In the Gloaming is a short story by Alice Elliott Dark, which was made into an HBO film with a teleplay by Will Scheffer, and adapted into stage musical by Wade Hair.

Using the songs of the Dixie Chicks, the story tells of Danny, dying of AIDS, who returns home for his last months. Always close to his mother, they share moments of openness that tend to shut out Danny's father and sister. It is a beautiful story of love, forgiveness, and acceptance.
