As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Broadway stars Julia Murney, Ashley Brown, Michael James Scott, and Josh Young will bring a new production of Jason Robert Brown's beloved song cycle SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD to Cocoa Beach, Florida on Friday, January 23rd. In this stirring teaser, Brown, Broadway's first Mary Poppins, sings the opening verse from the beloved title song. Check out the video.

Directed by Daniel Goldstein and written by three-time Tony winning composer Jason Robert Brown, a portion of the proceeds from the evening will be donated to the Cocoa Beach Regional Chamber of Commerce Arts Fund dedicated to benefit local arts organizations and education programs.

This is producer Jeremy Merrifield's second presentation of SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD after a hugely successful concert event in 2013 raising funds for The Performing Arts Project. A Cocoa Beach native, Merrifield will offer an invited rehearsal for industry before bringing the production to Florida for the Chamber's Inaugural Gala. The production will feature music direction by Christopher Haberl and musical staging by Lorin Lattaro.

Jason Robert Brown's SONGS FOR A NEW WORLD is a series of songs connected by the theme "the moment of decision." The show employs four performers who do not play the same characters throughout the show, but have consistently developing character arcs. Composer Jason Robert Brown has said of his show, "It's about one moment. It's about hitting the wall and having to make a choice, or take a stand, or turn around and go back."
