The next speaker in the 2016 National Geographic Live series was named Adventurer of the Year for his efforts as both a climber and visual storyteller. Omaha Performing Arts presents National Geographic Live's "Untamed Wild" with Cory Richards in the Kiewit Hall at the Holland Performing Arts Center on Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $10, and are available at TicketOmaha.com, 402-345-0606 or at the Ticket Omaha Office inside the Holland Center, 1200 Douglas St.

During "Untamed Wild," Richards, National Geographic Adventurer of the Year in 2012, will share tales and photos of his celebrated career that has taken him to remote areas of the world, including an expedition to Antarctica. A climber for The North Face athlete team, much of Richard's work has extended from expeditions to the greater ranges of the world where he has carved a niche as one of the leading adventure and expedition photographers. According to Richards, "Expeditions are an incredible opportunity to see who people are and how they respond to struggle, both external and internal...and it's that that tells a great story."

Climbing at 5, a high school dropout at 14 and the first American to climb an 8,000 meter peak in winter at 29, Richard's life has been anything but normal. Perhaps it's those experiences that have lent to his insatiable pursuit and passion for exposing the story and richness of the human element. His camera has taken him from the controlled and complex studio to the wild and remote corners of Nepal and Pakistan...all in the attempt to capture not only the soul of adventure and exploration, but the "beauty" inherent in modern society
