Lyric's 16th Annual Broadway Ball will be held on Friday, September 30th, at 7:00 p.m. at the Skirvin Hilton Hotel in downtown Oklahoma City. Broadway Ball is Lyric Theatre's annual gala fundraiser that supports Lyric's artistic programs as well as the educational branches of the organization.

Since 1963, Lyric Theatre has been driving forward to provide quality entertainment for Oklahomans in and outside of the metro area. Broadway Ball is an annual event put on by Lyric's fundraising board of directors to benefit Lyric's educational and artistic programs. Proceeds from the ball help keep Lyric's musical theater academy continue to hire the best teachers and provide scholarships for under privileged students, as well as help to keep all Lyric's productions affordable for all Oklahomans.

"No art form can survive on ticket sales or memberships alone," says Paula Stover, Lyric's Executive Director. "Attending our Broadway Ball is one of many ways patrons, supporters and fans can support Lyric Theatre, keeping the quality of the artistic productions and academy strong."

To entertain Lyric's ball supporters, Lyric Theatre's Artistic Director, Michael Baron invited Billy Porter, star of stage, film and television, to perform selections from his latest CD, "At the Corner of Broadway + Soul." To give patrons a sneak peek of Lyric's upcoming production of the musical comedy Altar Boyz, the cast will also be performing songs from this hilarious show. Porter is also the show director of Altar Boyz, opening October 12 at the Plaza Theatre.

To give all of Lyric's patrons the opportunity to contribute to this annual fundraising event, Lyric will be selling $10 raffle tickets now through the night of the ball. The 2011 raffle packages are an Apple iPad2 with a $200 Apple gift card and a $1,000 gas gift card with 12 months of car washes.
To purchase raffle tickets for either of the packages, contact Catherine at (405) 524-9310, or stop by Lyric's office at 1727 NW 16th Street in Oklahoma City.

This year's Broadway Ball live auction items include two passes for the final rounds of the 2012 Masters Tournament in Augusta, GA, courtesy of AT&T, a trip for two to New York City with Lyric's Artistic Director, Michael Baron. Highlights from the silent auction include dinner at the Chef's Table in the Skirvin's Park Avenue Grill, a top-of-the-line grill and smoker box from Kingfisher Kookers with a Schwab Meat Co. grill package, a one-year supply of ice cream from Braum's Ice Cream and Dairy Stores, and a Toby Keith autographed cowboy hat with a gift card to Toby Keith's I Love This Bar and Grill.

Lyric's After Dark event is a fun after-party for our "under 40" patrons. Skip the dinner and live auction, and enjoy drinks, desserts and dancing from 9 until midnight! After Dark patrons can bid on silent auction items and participate in the wine pull as well. Tickets are only $55 per person and can be purchased on Lyric's website, or by calling Lyric's office.
