Lyric Theatre's 2010 Season Closes with December Divas 12/19

Lyric Theatre, Oklahoma's leading professional theatre company, closes its 2010 season with the fabulous holiday cabaret, December Divas. Get into the spirit of the season when the December Divas cabaret hits the Lyric at the Plaza stage this holiday. Join the five Divas as they belt, croon, harmonize, and delight their way through an assortment of new and classic yuletide songs from adored composers like Jerry Herman, Irving Berlin, Rodgers and Hammerstein, The Carpenters, Burt Bacharach, and so much more! Enjoy your favorite holiday season tunes such as "We Need a Little Christmas," "Hawaiian Christmas Song," "Hard Candy Christmas," "Turkey Lurkey Time," "Merry Christmas, Darling," "I Got My Love To Keep Me Warm," "The Chipmunk Song" and of course "Silent Night". If you're looking for a different yet festive take on the holiday season, make December Divas a holiday gift to yourself this year. Take a break from the shopping frenzy and enjoy this wonderful holiday cocktail of a show, December Divas! It will have audiences toasting all the way to New Year's Eve.

This fun, cabaret show will be directed by Lyric Theatre's Artistic Director, Michael Baron. Michael, director of Lyric's wildly successful sold out performances of the recent The Rocky Horror Show in October 2010, is very excited to bring this festive, holiday show to Lyric audiences. Michael's other directing credits include Signature Sings, The Little Dog Laughed, The Lost Songs of Broadway: Vol. I and II and Songs for a New World (Signature at the Music Center at Strathmore) starring Alice Ripley, Brian d'Arcy James, Titus Burgess, Laura Griffith and music direction by Jason Robert Brown.
For December Divas, Lyric Theatre wants to highlight the talent of Lyric's local leading ladies from the past productions at the Civic Center Music Hall as well as the Plaza Theatre. Playing the December Divas are Beth Adele, Mandy Jiran, Heather Geery-Mayfield, Parish Mechling and Barb Schoenhofer.

Beth Adele has performed with Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma since 1998. Some of her favorite Lyric Stage credits include Anita in West Side Story, Diana in A Chorus Line, Rizzo in Grease, Angel in The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, Tzeitel in Fiddler on the Roof, and Ethel in George M. Mandy Jiran, after playing the lovable Vi Petty in Buddy: The Buddy Holly Story last summer, is returning to the Lyric Stage. Jiran's favorite roles include Lucille in the World Premiere of Grossingers with Gavin MacLeod, Madame in The Unsinkable Molly Brown with Cathy Rigby, Rose in The Secret Garden, and Rosamund in The Robber Bridegroom. Heather Geery-Mayfield, Heather has been seen in numerous leading roles at Lyric Theatre including Hope in Urinetown, Maria in two productions of West Side Story, Sarah in Guys and Dolls, Rapunzel in Into the Woods, Agnes in George M and Carrie in Carousel. Parish Mechlings has a B.F.A. in Musical Theatre from The University of Oklahoma. Mechling's past Lyric roles include Anytime Annie in 42nd Street, Violet in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, Sharpay Evans in High School Musical 2, and Zelda in Singin' in the Rain. You might recognize Barb Shoenhofer from the Lyric at the Civic Center production of 42nd Street as the prima donna, Dorothy Brock. After 11 seasons with Lyric at the Civic Center, this production of December Divas will be Schoenhofer's debut performance on Lyric's Plaza Theatre stage.

Tickets for December Divas are $25 for the Thursday and Sunday performances and $30 for the Friday and Saturday Performances.
