Following its delightful presentation of SOME ENCHANTED EVENING, Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma will take a turn for the dramatic as it presents Tennessee Williams' powerful classic, THE GLASS MENAGERIE, tonight, March 27 through April 13, at the Plaza Theatre. The play is the second installment in Lyric's 50th Anniversary Season and will star nationally-recognized, Washington, D.C. actress Helen Hedman as Amanda.

"THE GLASS MENAGERIE is a classic work of literature that many of us read in high school or college because we had to, but to see it on stage is a truly moving experience," said Michael Baron, Lyric's artistic director and director of THE GLASS MENAGERIE. "All four of the characters are based on people in Williams' life and it is an honor to have Helen spearhead the cast. Having worked with her previously at Ford's Theatre, I know that she will take the audience on an emotional journey of love and self-discovery."

Written based on circumstances in Williams' real life, the memory play revolves around the main character, Tom, who narrates the story of his last days at home with his mother Amanda and sister Laura. Tom is a dreamer and believes he is destined for more than the sedentary life his family sustains.

Joining Hedman in the cast are Alex John Enterline as Tom, Dallas Lish as the "gentleman caller" Jim and fresh, Oklahoma talent Lindsay Pittman as Laura. Enterline was last seen on the Lyric Stage as Count Chamberlain in CALL ME MADAM, in BYE BYE BIRDIE and as Georg in SPRING AWAKENING. Lish is currently appearing as Billy in Lyric's SOME ENCHANTED EVENING and some of his most recent credits include playing Curly in Discoveryland's OKLAHOMA! and SUNSET BOULEVARD at Broadway Tonight! Pittman is currently a senior drama student at The University of Oklahoma and her recent credits include THEY PROMISED HER THE MOON and MUCH ADO ABOUT NOTHING.
