THE WORKSHOP THEATER and ALVIN OUT PRODUCTIONS' production of Lizzie Borden at Eight O'Clock, tells the chilling first person account from Lizzie Borden herself of her father and stepmother's gruesome murders.

Decades after her acquittal, Lizzie Borden takes the podium at her local Historical Society to once and for all clear her name, or will she?  With a tour de force performance by Ellen Barry (Terrence McNally's A Perfect Ganesh) as Lizzie Borden, Lizzie relives the compelling events that lead to the headline murders of the century.  The bloody dress, the food poisoning, the broken hatchet in the basement, the mysterious bloodless-ness of the crime scenes--- all clues pointed towards Lizzie for the murders.  But Lizzie has an alternate explanation, and, at long last, she's ready to tell the whole spine-tingling story.  Originally produced and developed and performed at the Historic North Hall in Huntington, MA, this is Lizzie Borden At Eight O'Clock's New York City debut.

Director Kenneth Tigar is the recipient of a Los Angeles Drama Critics' Circle Award for his stage work, has appeared across the country in his one-man show "I Must Be Mr. Boswell" about the biographer of Dr. Johnson. His credits include "Lethal Weapon" movies, "Barney Miller," "The West Wing," and "Law and Order." On stage he has played Willy Loman in "Death of a Salesman," and he starred in "The Sunshine Boys," "All My Sons," and "The Gin Game." He directed the national tour of "The Gin Game" with Kim Hunter and is a well-known opera director on the West Coast. He was in the company of the Tony Award-nominated Broadway play revival of Brian Friel's "Translations."

ELLEN BARRY was most recently seen in NYC as Katharine in Terrence McNally's A PERFECT GANESH (WorkShop Theater).   As Ella in Ibsen's John Gabriel BORKMAN at the Century Center Theatre, she received an Off Off-Broadway Award for excellence and, and as Vivian Bearing in WIT at the Boarshead Theatre, she was named Best Leading Actress by Michigan's Detroit Free Press.  Her regional theatre credits include a wide range of classical and contemporary roles, including Tennessee Williams' Blanche, Stella and Hannah and Shakespeare's Hermione and Constance (NJ Shakespeare Festival), Martha in WHO'S AFRAID OF Virginia Woolf? and Nat in RABBIT HOLE (New Century Theatre, Mass.) and both mothers in Shepard's A LIE OF THE MIND (TheatreFest, NJ and White Horse Theatre, NYC).  She is a graduate of Northwestern University.

Playwright MITCH GIANNUNZIO is a founding member of First Stage in LA and has had numerous productions of his plays.  Among the venues are The Chester Theatre, Florida Stage, The Hudson Theatre, and The Santa Monica Playhouse.  His plays, "Last Tag" and "A Smaller Place," were made into movies.  For over twenty years he has been a moving force in renovating the North Hall in Huntington, Massachusetts.  He has received over a dozen Massachusetts Cultural Council grants.
