Will Pomerantz, director of The Blue Flower at Prospect Theater Company and Second Stage and Dai at the Culture Project, will direct Prospect Theater Company's upcoming production of Cole Porter's 1933 musical Nymph Errant. Performances will begin July 7 at the Clurman Theatre at Theatre Row.

The announcement was made today by Prospect Theater Company Producing Artistic Director Cara Reichel and Managing Director Melissa Huber.

One of Porter's most sexy and sophisticated scores – originally censored in its London debut – will be premiered in this sleek new adaptation. From a Swiss boarding school to an Austrian nudist colony to a Turkish harem, follow the unlikely adventures of young Evangeline Edwards as she enters the world and seeks her true passion in this fresh take on a rarely-heard musical, press notes state.

Nymph Errant, with music and lyrics by Cole Porter, is adapted and will be presented with a new libretto by Rob Urbinati based on the novel by James Laver and the original libretto by Romney Brent. Jim Bassi (Lincoln Center's Twelve Dreams) is the musical director. Cory Pattak (Newsies, Peter and the Starcatcher) is the lighting designer. Brian Prather (Fugitive Songs, Fair Game) is the set designer. Whitney Locher (Barrow Street's Cymbeline) is the costume designer. Casting information will be announced shortly.

Tickets ($50 - $65) are available online at www.ProspectTheater.org or by calling (212) 239-6200 or (800) 432-7250, or in person at the Theatre Row Box Office. Service charges and restoration fees will apply.

Nymph Errant is the third production in Prospect Theater Company's 2011 - 2012 season, following critically-acclaimed presentations of Adam Guettel's Myths and Hymns and the musical comedy Iron Curtain by Susan DiLallo, Peter Mills and Stephen Weiner. Pomerantz replaces the previously-announced Davis McCallum, who withdrew from the production due to a scheduling conflict.

Will Pomerantz has directed and developed new musicals and plays for such theaters as The Guthrie, American Repertory Theatre, 2nd Stage, Playwrights Horizons, The Public Theatre, Hartford Stage, New York Theater Workshop, The Signature Theatre, Ensemble Studio Theater, Culture Project, The Williamstown Theatre Festival, The Studio Theatre, and The Mark Taper Forum. He has directed world premieres by such playwrights as John Guare, David Auburn, Neil LaBute, Craig Lucas, Kia Corthron, David Lindsay-Abaire, Stephen Belber, Noah Haidle, Linda Cho and Kira Obolensky. He has directed and developed new musicals for NYMF, NAMT and Paulette Haupt's PREMIERES.

His production of the musical The Blue Flower, which originally premiered at Prospect Theater Company, swept all the major awards in the Boston Area, winning both the Elliot Norton and the Independent Reviewers of New England (I.R.N.E.) Awards for Outstanding Production, Outstanding Design, and Best Musical of the Year.
