WONDER WOMAN: A HOW TO GUIDE FOR LITTLE JEWISH GIRLS Closes at Stage Left

Two-time FringeNYC award-winning writer/performer Cyndi Freeman's latest solo show, which premiered at the 2011 FRIGID New York Festival, traces her journey from a little suburban Jewish girl obsessed with Wonder Woman to a fabulous burlesque queen in NYC. A veteran storyteller and MothSlam winner, Freeman recounts personal tales of heroics and harrowing adventures while joyfully spewing trivia about America's first and favorite female super here, Wonder Woman. Join her on a crusade to right wrongs while wearing fabulous outfits, directed by Obie-Award winner David Drake (director of Taylor Mac's The Lily's Revenge).

Wonder Woman: A How To Guide For Little Jewish Girls will play as part of the Women at Work Festival, works by and/or about women, closing October 9 at Stage Left Studio (214 West 30th Street, 6th Floor). CYNDI FREEMAN (Writer/Performer) is a two-time FringeNYC award winning performer, playwright, and theatrical producer, She has created and produced several solo shows. Her show I Kissed Dash Riprock was performed as part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and won a ‘Best in Festival Award for Excellence' at the 2002 New York International Fringe Festival. I Kissed Dash Riprock also enjoyed success in Boston, toured the UK with Guy Masterson Productions, and was presented by Xaviera Hollander in Amsterdam. Her solo burlesque show, Inside Cherry Pitz was presented at the Edinburg Fringe, the Midtown International Theatre Festival, and at The Cherry Lane Theatre as part of the Downtown Urban Theatre Festival. Greetings from Hollywood was spotlighted on CNN, received a ‘Best in Fringe Festival' Award at FringeNYC, and was voted ‘Best New Play of New England - 1998' by the Independent Reviewers of New England. Greetings From Hollywood was also presented at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. Her solo show Wonder Woman: A How To Guide For Little Jewish Girls recently premiered to critical acclaim at the FRIGID New York Festival and was extended as part of FRIGID Hangovers. David Drake (Director) is an Obie Award winning playwright/performer for his long running hit The Night Larry Kramer Kissed Me. Last season David directed a cast of 37 in the final act of Taylor Mac's 5-act, 5-hour epic, The Lily's Revenge at HERE Arts Center. The play made the ‘Best of 2009' lists at Time Out NY, Paper Magazine, The New York Post, and The New Yorker and was awarded a ‘Special Citation' Obie Award from The Village Voice. David also directed Taylor Mac's internationally renowned solo show, The Be(a)st of Taylor Mac (Edinburgh Fringe Festival, London, Sydney, Stockholm, Dublin, New York's Under the Radar Festival, the Spoleto Festival, and dozens of others). Regionally David has twice been a Directing Fellow at the Sundance Theatre Lab, and most recently he directed the premiere of David Parr's Slap & Tickle at the Provincetown Theater in Massachusetts, as well as a revival of Thornton Wilder's Our Town, which was recently chosen as one of the ‘Best Productions of 2010' by critics at the Cape Cod Times.
