Theater 2020's LADY SUSAN OR THE CAPTIVE HEART Reading Plays Tonight, 7/14

Due to air conditioning issues at the Brooklyn Heights Branch of the Public Library, Theater 2020, Brooklyn Heights resident professional theater company will now present a FREE reading of the new play "Lady Susan Or The Captive Heart, A Jane Austen Bodice Ripper" by Lynn Marie Macy at the Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic Church at 21 Sidney Place (between Joralemon & State Streets) in Brooklyn Heights. The reading will include a brief talkback with the cast and playwright, after the reading.

This hilarious comic adaptation illuminates Jane Austen's earliest novel "Lady Susan." Manipulative, callous and cruel – the beautiful widow Lady Susan Vernon is on a manhunt. To restore her broken fortunes the greatest coquette in England sets out to hook a rich husband. She will stop at nothing to achieve this goal including forcing her own daughter Frederica into an unwanted marriage. Will Lady Susan's weakness for pleasure derail her notorious intrigues? Literature's greatest villainess is about to take center stage.

The reading takes place today, July 14, 2012, at 1:30 – 3:30pm, with talk-back afterwards. Doors open at 1pm at Saint Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, 21 Sidney Place, Brooklyn Heights (between Joralemon & State Streets). Subways: 2, 3, 4 or 5 to Borough Hall, R to Court Street, A or F to Jay Street, C to Brooklyn High Street.

Admission is FREE and open to the public. No reservations needed.
