The Storm Theatre Company, under the Artistic Direction of Peter Dobbins, will begin performances of MARIUS by Marcel Pagnol tonight, September 7th at Theatre at the Church of Notre Dame, 114th Street and Morningside Drive. MARIUS, written in 1931, is the first play of a trilogy which includes “Fanny” and “Cesar" that was later converted into a trilogy of films by the same name. Later the three works were combined in the Broadway musical “Fanny” and the motion picture of the same name. The trilogy is being filmed again at this moment by the great French actor Daniel Auteuil. MARIUS explores life’s mysteries and all its glories through the delightful inhabitants of the Bar de la Marine. It chronicles the trials of the young, daydreaming bartender Marius, who while desperate for a life at sea (and elsewhere) is torn by his love for the beautiful 18 year old Fanny.

Performances of MARIUS are Thursdays through Saturdays at 7:30 pm with additional performances on 9/10, 10/3 and 10/10 at 7:30 pm and matinees on 9/22 9/29, 10/6 and 10/13 at 2:00 pm
