The Gallery Players presents THE LITTLE DOG LAUGHED, Opens 9/10

The Gallery Players opens its 45th season with the first New York City revival of The Little Dog Laughed this September. Patrick Vassel (Working, Chicago's Broadway Playhouse; War, Soho Playhouse) directs Douglas Carter Beane's biting showbiz comedy about identity and the desire for celebrity, opening Friday, September 10 at Brooklyn's The Gallery Players.

Love will either cost Mitchell Green $200 an hour, or his entire Hollywood career...Mitchell is on the brink of superstardom with the role of a lifetime, but something isn't right. One lonely night, Mitchell hires Alex, a male prostitute, and unexpectedly falls in love. Cut to Diane, Mitchell's power-player agent, who will stop at nothing to set Mitchell "straight" and keep him from making a decision that could derail both of their lives, and more importantly, their careers. Three-time Tony® nominee Douglas Carter Beane's "bitingly funny" play is a pull-no-punches look at the film biz, and what it takes to be a movie star when coming out of the closet is the farthest thing from being in.

The Little Dog Laughed stars Maeve Yore* (Bound, Spleen Theatre; A Midsummer Night's Dream; National Shakespeare) as Mitchell's ambitious, sardonic Hollywood agent Diane; Brian W. Seibert (Fools in Love, BAM; The Shadow Box, Manhattan Ensemble Theater; FILM: Turtle Hill, Brooklyn) as the hunky up and coming Hollywood actor Mitchell; Jake Mendes (TGP: The Drowsy Chaperone) as Alex, Mitchell's love interest and Tania Verafield* (Beneath the Veil, The Geffen Theatre and Kennedy Center) as Alex's girlfriend Ellen. *Appearing courtesy Actor's Equity Association.

Patrick Vassel directs the first New York City revival of The Little Dog Laughed, and Robert Earle Jones (The Drowsy Chaperone, The Gallery Players, 2011 NYIT Award nomination, Outstanding Production of a Musical) is the Producer on behalf of The Gallery Players. The scenic design is by Chris Minard (Project: Lohan; You Never Can Tell), the costume design is by Ryan J. Moller (The Drowsy Chaperone, The Gallery Players, 2011 NYIT Award nomination, Outstanding Costume Design) and the lighting is designed by Heather Sparling (ATD: Two Gentlemen of Verona, St. Anne's Warehouse dirs. Jeff Golde, Jay Painter). The production stage manager is Matt Remington (Oliver!, The Gallery Players).

Tickets to The Little Dog Laughed are $18 for adults, $14 for Seniors & Children 12 and under. Season Subscriptions start at $110.
