The Civilians (Steven Cosson, Artistic Director), the award-winning New York-based theatre company known for projects investigating real life topics, presents Let Me Ascertain You: Best Of..., a one-night-only cabaret performance at The Living Room on Sunday, August 21, 2011 at 4pm. The Civilians are opening up their vaults to bring you a performance of the best never-before-heard interviews from past Civilians' investigations. Our artists have traveled the world talking to people about Evangelical Christianity, the adult entertainment industry, urban development, the environment, and all other kinds of fascinatingly bizarre topics. They've found more entertaining, surprising, and thought-provoking stories than can fit into their plays, so they're offering this very special performance of never-before-heard material.

Performers: Emily Ackerman (This Beautiful City), Aysan Celik (Bob, Humana Festival), Matthew Dellapina (In the Footprint), Dan Domingues (The Cherry Orchard, Atlantic Theatre Company), Donnetta Lavinia Grays (In the Footprint), Daoud Heidami (Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo), Billy EuGene Jones (In the Footprint), Emily Rossell (Hannah Montana), and Colleen Werthmann (In the Footprint).

This Beautiful City enjoyed a critically-acclaimed Off-Broadway run at the Vineyard Theater in 2009 receiving Lucille Lortel, Drama League and Drama Desk nominations. Gone Missing ran for seven months at Off-Broadway's Barrow Street Theater and was cited by The New York Times as one of the "10 Best Plays of 2007." The Civilians received an Obie in 2004 in recognition of its accomplishments in its first two seasons of work.

In addition to Let Me Ascertain You, The Civilians is deeply involved in its new works, The Great Immensity, a play with music using a fictional narrative to talk about the environment and the future of our planet, which will have its world premiere at Kansas City Repertory Theatre in the 2011-12 season, and Pretty Filthy a new musical examination of the adult entertainment industry. The Civilians' Tales from My Parents' Divorce will be at Williamstown Theatre Festival in August.
