Talie Melnyk presents Maison des Reves at the Planet Connections Theatre Festivity. Maison des Reves is written and performed by Talie Melnyk and directed by Gretchen Cryer. Performances are Wednesday, May 21 at 7:00pm, Friday, May 23 at 7:00pm, and Saturday, May 24 at 4:00pm at the Paradise Factory in NYC. Tickets are $18 and can be purchased at www.planetconnections.org.

In 1909 Samara, Russia, Alexe Popova confessed to killing over 300 men to "liberate" the women of her community from their abusive husbands. She fought the War on Women in her own way, with a little lethal poison. Come "try" her for yourself at Maison des Reves!

Talie Melnyk is an actress and writer interested in true crime and women's stories. Based on the true story of Alexe Popova, Talie is in her element with her solo show, Maison des Reves. Film: The Re-gift, The Ticket, Crosswords, Pictures of Lily. TV: As the World Turns, All My Children. Originally from Calgary, Canada, Talie now lives in Brooklyn, NY where she is also a Movement Specialist dedicated to women's health and wellness at all stages of life. Education: MFA Binghamton University, BFA University of Calgary, British American Drama Academy.

Gretchen Cryer is well known for writing the books and lyrics and starring in I'm Getting My Act Together and Taking It On the Road(with music by Nancy Ford.) The show was originally produced in NYC by Joseph Papp's Public Theatre followed by a three year run at the Circle in the Square. The show ran a year in Chicago, a year in Los Angeles, had numerous productions around the country, and over 100 foreign productions. Gretchen and Nancy completed the sequel, Still Getting My Act Together, which you will find in theatres in NYC and around the country in the upcoming months. Gretchen and Nancy have also written Now is the Time or All Good Men (off Broadway,)The Last Sweet Days of Isaac (Obie Award, Drama Desk Award, Outer Critics Circle Award,) Shelter (Broadway - Golden Theatre,) Hang On To the Good Times (Manhattan Theatre Club) The Fabulous Party (Williamstown Theatre Festival,) The American Girls Review(American Girl Place - Chicago, New York, Los Angeles,) Circle of Friends (American Girl Place - Chicago, New York,) and Anne of Green Gables (Theatreworks, Lortel Theatre.) Gretchen has recorded two albums with Nancy Ford, has starred on Broadway in her own cabaret act, performed on and off Broadway, and in film. Gretchen currently teaches "Writing for Solo Performance" in New York City. Born and raised in Indiana, she lives in New York City and has three children - Jon, Robin, and Shelly, and five grandchildren.
