T. Schreiber Theatre Presents 4th Annual Schreiber Shorts 10-Minute Play Festival

 

T. Schreiber Theatre proudly presents "The Fourth Annual Schreiber Shorts: An Evening of One Acts" January 25th through February 11th at the Gloria Maddox Theatre. The 10-minute play series features works by 10 playwrights, selected from nearly 1000 submissions in a nationwide playwriting competition. Curated and produced by Halle Morse and Megan Grace, "The Schreiber Shorts" marks the second production of T. Schreiber's 2016-17 season. ABOUT THE PLAYWRIGHTS
BOB CANNING studied Comedy Writing with Danny Simon (Neil's brother), and Playwriting with playwrights Oliver Hailey and Doric Wilson. In 2009, a production of his play "CraZy Eddy" received unanimous rave reviews at the Little Fish Theatre, San Pedro, CA, and was a 1st Place winner in Le Petit Theatre's Playwriting Contest, Houma, LA. In 2011, it won 1st Place in Drury University's Short Play Competition, and in 2012, it was also a 1st Place Winner at the 21st Annual Nantucket Short Play Competition. "What Would Tippi Hedren Do (Hypothetically Speaking, Of Course)?" won the 2014 Best Script Award at the Claremorris Fringe Festival, County Mayo, Ireland, and his second entry to the 2015 Claremorris Fringe, "Nuestra Dama de las Viñas", likewise won the Best Script Award. Bob is a proud member of the Dramatists Guild of America, delighted that you're here tonight to see "Shelley Berman's No Soap!", and hopes that you enjoy it.

EUGENIE CARABATSOS' plays have won the Kennedy Center Harold and Mimi Steinberg National Student Playwriting Award, BroadwayWorld Award for Best Play in South Carolina, the Trustus Theatre Playwrights Contest, the Mountain Playhouse Comedy Writing Competition, the Venus Theatre Festival, the University of Tulsa's WomensWork Competition, and the Variations Theatre Group's Unchained Festival. She graduated with her MFA in Dramatic Writing from Carnegie Mellon University in 2016, and received her BA from Wesleyan University in 2010.

NELSON CLARK has written novels ('The Woman Pope' and 'The God Killer'), award winning screenplays ('Boy With Vista' 'The Woman Pope'), as well as several plays. Mr. Clark, his wife, Virginia, and their faithful dog, Wyatt Earp Clark, are currently living in Portugal, recent refugees from Phoenix, Arizona seeking asylum from the Donald Trump regime. In his travel blog, Raging Traveler, he resists writing about himself in the third person, knowing it fools no one.

ALEX DREMANN studied playwriting at USC and has had over 300 productions of his short plays. Evenings of his collected short plays include: "Slap Happy" (Madlab Theatre, Columbus, OH), "B-Sides, Rarities and Unreleased Tracks" (City Theatre, Wilmington, DE) and "13 Lemonade Ave." (Secret Room Theatre, Philadelphia, PA). Full lengths include: "Split Pea Pod" (The Brick Playhouse), "Postcoital Variations" (Philadelphia Theatre Workshop) and "The :nv:s:ble Play" (Madlab Theatre & Theatre of NOTE).

JIM GORDON's plays have won or been finalists in over 70 national and international competitions and many have been published. Among his many awards, Jim received the "Alan Minieri Award for Playwriting Excellence" from The American Globe Theatre in New York City. His university credits include a BS in Theatre Arts from The State University of New York and an MA from Fairfield University. Jim is a member of the Dramatists Guild.

PETER KENNEDY is a New England playwright and teacher. His plays have received staged readings or productions by The Secret Theatre and Obligatory Theatre in New York City, City Theatre of Miami, Little Fish Theatre of Los Angeles, The Boston Theatre Marathon, The University of Houston, Theatre Inspirato in Toronto, Oil Lamp Theater in Glenview, IL, and Salem Theatre Company of MA. Peter was also selected as a finalist for Actors Theatre of Louisville's Heideman Award.

Dan McGeehan is an award-winning actor, director, and illustrator. His scripts have won awards in short-play festivals across the country. Additionally, as an actor/director, he has performed in or directed nearly 100 productions in several regional theaters. As an illustrator, his whimsical, colorful illustrations have appeared in a wide range of magazines, advertisements, and children's books around the world.

ROSEMARY FRISINO TOOHEY's plays have been produced more than 200 times around the world and eight of her scripts are now published: Dramatic Publishing (Woodstock, IL), Lazy Bee Scripts (Southampton, U.K.), & Playscripts, Inc. (NYC.) The London production of her comedy, Berry Season, took Top Prize in the British Theatre Challenge in December and her first musical, "Judy And The General" ---she's written the Book, Music and Lyrics---opens in Baltimore in May.

Michael Weems is a Houston based playwright/lyricist. Recent credits: "OkayBetterBest" (Feinstein's 54 Below), and "Timing" (SPF 1960). MFA Playwriting Graduate from University of Nebraska at Omaha.

NATHAN YUNGERBERG is a Brooklyn-based playwright. His work has been developed or featured by The Playwrights' Center, Crowded Fire Theater, The Lark, and BBC Radio Afternoon Drama. Awards and honors: 2017 Cherry Lane's Mentor Project with Stephen Adly Guirgis, 2016 O'Neill National Playwrights Conference (Semifinalist), Ken Davenport 10-Minute Play Festival (Winner).
