SunsetGun Productions, in conjunction with FRIGID New York, presents the world premiere of Scarlet Woman, a new play by NYC playwright Matthew Wells written expressly for SunsetGun Productions.  All performances will take place at the Kraine Theater, 85 East 4th St, NYC, beginning February 23 and running until March 5, 2011 (detailed performance schedule follows).

SunsetGun Productions (SGP), www.sunsetgunproductions.com, is an emerging theatre company founded in New York City, currently headquartered in Minneapolis, MN and proudly creating work out of both of these arts meccas.  SGP enjoyed a fantastic reception to their inaugural production, a one-woman show titled AfterLife that toured across the US and Canada to much critical acclaim, including a Best Female Performer Award at the Victoria Fringe Festival for Candy Simmons, a list of 5-Star Reviews and a ranking as the #1 Must See Show at Montreal Fringe Festival by the MONTREAL GAZETTE:

SunsetGun returns to their commitment of strong storytelling and a collaborative spirit with Scarlet Woman, a colorful homage to all of the dangerous Delilahs of film noir.  In this two-woman, comedic thriller actresses Candy Simmons and Megan Hill, led by seasoned director Rob O'Neill, rip through the story of one femme fatale, twelve characters and more dead bodies than the last scene of Hamlet.  Using a trunkful of props and costumes, a sharp tongue, highly physical performances and a wild imagination Scarlet Woman's crackerjack team of artists present 60-minutes of non-stop 'stage magic' recreating the mysterious world of the film-noir genre.

Scarlet Woman's creative team is a mix of Minneapolis and NYC-based professionals that have achieved critical recognition across the continent.  Candy Simmons (actress) currently resides in Minneapolis and serves as Artistic Director of SunsetGun Productions.  Candy co-wrote, produced and starred in SGP's previous success AfterLife, garnering critical praise and multiple awards across North America.  Performance credits include the 92nd Street Y's Makor/Steinhardt Center, Emerging Artists Theater, Primary Stages, Collective: Unconscious Theatre, Carolinian Shakespeare Festival.

Megan Hill (actress), a NYC-based writer and performer, could most recently be seen at Theater Under St. Marks in The Management's Lonesome Winter, a new work Megan co-wrote with Joshua Conkel:  "Hill gives a mesmerizing performance that is somehow equal parts silent pain and quivery-voiced jokes."  NEW YORK PRESS.  Megan is a recipient of the Seattle Times Footlight Award for Outstanding Performance In Stupid Kids and has performed at Actor's Theatre of Louisville, Intiman Theatre and the A.R.T. Institute, among others.

Matthew Wells (playwright) is a prolific NYC-based writer whose plays have been produced across the US.  Achievements include having Schrödinger's Girlfriend, a comedy about subatomic physics, produced at San Francisco's Magic Theatre, winning the Tennessee Williams Literary Festival One-Act Play Award and currently having his Manhattan Sonnets available for a listen on the New River Dramatists archive on Art International Radio:  www.artonair.org

Rob O'Neill (director) is a seasoned performer, choreographer, director, and teacher in the New York theatre and dance community.  He currently serves as an adjunct faculty member of NYU's Experimental Theatre Wing and teaches dance at the renowned Fieldston Ethical Culture School.  In 2008 he received 2 NY Innovative Theater Award nominations for the creation and performance of his movement theatre piece Echo Lake.  Rob has previously directed several of Matthew Wells' plays, including Donna Paradise, a project that Candy Simmons co-starred in.  The three collaborators relish returning to this successful artistic reunion.

Following its premiere to FRIGID NY audiences Scarlet Woman will continue on to the Winnipeg and Edmonton theatre festivals this summer and will complete its year-long journey with a two-week Twin Cities run October of 2011.
