The Strawberry Theater Festival will present The Light in the Refrigerator by Laura Zlatos, directed by Francesca Mantani Arkus, running Wednesday, February 27, 2013 - Sunday, March 9, 2013 at Hudson Guild Theater, 441 West 26th St. NY, NY.

Diagnosed with an unknown, incurable disease, a down-trodden man searches for the meaning of life and the answer to one of the world's greatest mysteries: does the light go off in the refrigerator you shut the door?

LAURA ZLATOS (Playwright) Laura Zlatos' plays have been produced in New York and have received staged readings in New York, Minnesota and Alaska. She has participated in numerous festivals including the Midwinter Madness Short Play Festival, the American Avant-Garde Arts Festival and The Last Frontier Theatre Conference. She received her BFA in Dramatic Writing from New York University and is currently pursuing an MFA in Playwriting at Columbia University. Originally from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Laura lives in Brooklyn with her cat, Sylvia Plath.

FRANCESCA MANTANI ARKUS (Director) has directed, collaborated and assisted on numerous pieces including Animal Kingdom, written by Laura Zlatos. Francesca's work has been seen at HERE, Signature Theatre Company, TACT, Blue Heron Arts Center, Phil Bosakowski Theatre, 78th Street Theatre Lab, Six Figures Theatre, The Director's Company, Barrow Group, Pulse Ensemble Theatre, and readings at New York Theatre Workshop and The Joseph Papp Public Theatre. Regionally, her work as a director has appeared at Center Theatre Group/Mark Taper Forum, Capitol Theatre, and The Open Eye in upstate New York. Francesca is proud to direct Words of Choice, pro-choice theatre created and developed by Cindy Cooper. She has served as Assistant Director to Tina Landau on Floyd Collins at Playwrights Horizons and Time of Your Life, at Steppenwolf, Seattle Rep, and A.C.T. in San Francisco.

CAROLINE WATTERS (Stage Manager) Originally from Toronto, Caroline is currently obtaining her MFA in Stage Management at Columbia University. In New York she currently interns at 101 Productions and has been an intern at Sleep No More, Davenport Theatrical and the Atlantic Theater Company. Some of her favourite credits include: Avenue Q, Pinkalicious, Spring Awakening, Madama Butterfly, and Attempts on Her Life.
