ABOUT SATC:

Scandinavian American Theater Company

(SATC) is a New York-based Scandinavian Theater company founded to further Scandinavian performing arts in New York by presenting readings and productions of contemporary and classic plays from Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Iceland, Greenland and the Faroe Islands in English.
The idea for SATC was born in 2009 out of a wish to share the best of contemporary and classical Scandinavian theater with an American audience. On May 3rd, 2010, after a year of ‘establishment,' the company launched with a staged reading of Swedish Sofia Fredén's "Hand in Hand," directed by Anders Cato. Reading the leading role in the play was special guest Danish Academy Award Nominee and SATC Ambassador Charlotte Munck.

As the first-ever Scandinavian-American theater company in New York, the company aims to present contemporary Scandinavian perspectives through the new generation of Scandinavian playwrights, and through the cultural awareness the Company Brings to the Scandinavian classics.

Following "Miss Julie," SATC will present a production of "Home Sweet Home," in the fall of 2010: A poignant, contemporary drama about a Danish soldier returning from service in Iraq, written by one of Denmark's most exciting new playwrights, Andreas Garfield and directed by the renowned Danish director Christopher Berdal. The company will also present a production of SATC Artistic Board member Anette Norgaard's one-woman show "Dramatically Different" as well as resume the SATC Contemporary Scandinavian Reading Series with two more staged readings.

The SATC Artistic Board comprises seven members, all theater professionals living in New York, representing the fields of acting, directing, choreography, film and theater management: Albert Bendix (Denmark), Anette Norgaard (Denmark), Henning Hegland (Norway), Elin Eggertsdottír (Iceland), Sebastian Nyman Agdur (Sweden), Vígdis Hentze Olsen (Faroe Islands) and Lisa Bearpark (Sweden, USA).
