As the culmination of its annual Project Playwright Festival, Sanguine Theatre Company presents Flamingo by Alex Trow at IRT Theater (154 Christopher Street) in downtown Manhattan. Jillian Robertson, Artistic Director of Sanguine, will direct the world premiere.

When Caroline meets Andrew, she knows that he is trouble -- dangerous, irresistible trouble. Flamingo is a romantic comedy that may be a romantic tragedy. Beneath it all is a deeper story of sexual awakening, gender expectations, and what binds people together. Frank, funny, heartwarming and heartbreaking, Flamingo is every wonderful and terrible relationship you've ever had.

Alex Trow's Flamingo was chosen as the winner of Sanguine Theatre Company's highly competitive Project Playwright Festival in January, the prize for which is a fully-produced world premiere. Alex is an acclaimed NYC actress (London Wall, Mint Theater; The Detour, Metropolitan Playhouse), and now she makes her playwrighting debut. Sanguine Theatre Company returns to IRT Theater after a successful run of WILD by Crystal Skillman this spring, which was nominated for three NYIT Awards.

The cast of Flamingo includes Dylan Lamb (Alligator Summer, Dorothy Strelsin Theatre), Ian Antal (As You Like It, New York Classical Theatre), and Alex Trow. The creative team includes: Miles Mandwelle (assistant director), Christopher and Justin Swader (set design), Charlie Winter (lighting design), Gage Holcomb (costume design), Emily Auciello (sound design), Casey Wright (dramaturgy), Christopher Fitzer (graphic design), Karly Fischer (producer), and Anna Fearheiley (producer). The stage manager is Harrison Kaufman.

Tickets are $15 in advance ($18 at the door) and available by calling 800-838-3006 or at www.brownpapertickets.com/event/808182. Performances of Flamingo run September 3 through September 14, Wednesday through Saturday at 8:00pm and Sundays at 3:00pm.
