The York Shakespeare Company is pleased to present Sam Shepard's TRUE WEST, directed by Seth Duerr. True West will play a three-week limited engagement at Theatre 54 @ Shetler Studios (244 West 54th Street, 12th Floor). Performances begin Friday, June 8 and continue through Saturday, June 23. Opening Night is Saturday, June 9 (8pm). $18 tickets are available at www.smarttix.com.

The York Shakespeare Company is proud to announce it's 10th Anniversary Season, commencing with a revival of TRUE WEST - Sam Shepard's most produced play telling the story of two brothers: Austin, an ambitious Hollywood screenwriter working on a potential million-dollar deal and Lee, a vagabond thief with a compulsion for six-packs and toasters. You'll be terrifyingly close to the action as these two brothers battle their demons and each other in Shepard's brutal and acidly funny masterpiece. This summer - There Will Be Toast.

The production stars James Sayess as Lee, Patrick Terry as Austin, Paul Rubin as Saul and Ginger Grace as Mom.

The production features scenic design by Michael Minahan, costume and property design by Preesa Adeline Bullington, and fights by Jared Kirby. Artem Kulakov is the sound designer, Daryl Fazio is the graphic designer, Michael Joseph Ormond is the production stage manager and Merissa Devine is the assistant stage manager.

True West plays the following regular schedule through Saturday, June 23: Wednesdays at 8 p.m.; Thursdays at 8 p.m.; Fridays at 8 p.m.; Saturdays at 2 p.m.; and 8 p.m. Sundays at 3 p.m.

There will be an additional performance on Tuesday June 19 at 7pm

Sam Shepard (Playwright) is an American playwright, actor, and television and film director. He is the author of several books of short stories, essays, and memoirs, and received the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1979 for his play Buried Child. Shepard was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his portrayal of pilot Chuck Yeager in The Right Stuff.

Seth Duerr (Director) has appeared in 33 productions of Shakespeare. Roles include: Iago, Claudius, Talbot, Margaret, Chorus, Leontes, Antonio (The Tempest), as well as directing and playing the title role in Coriolanus, Timon of Athens, Macbeth, King Lear, Richard 2, Henry 4, Henry 5, Titus Andronicus and Richard 3. He is the Founder/Artistic Director of The York Shakespeare Company and was the Assistant Artistic Director of the Jean Cocteau Repertory, playing Friar Laurence in Romeo and Juliet; The Cook in Mother Courage; Lexy in Candida; and Cléante in The Miser. For The Public Theater he has twice appeared in Shakespeare in the Park: Macbeth directed by Moisés Kaufman and Romeo and Juliet directed by Michael Greif. Mr. Duerr wrote and directed the first author-approved adaptation of one of Ian McEwan's novels, In Between the Sheets. He starred as Captain Ahab in Orson Welles' Moby Dick - Rehearsed in productions for The Acting Company and Twenty Feet Productions. Recent performances as Azdak in The Caucasian Chalk Circle for Sonnet Rep, John Proctor in The Crucible for manhattantheatresource and Tupolski in The Pillowman at APAC as well as directing and playing Jamie in YSCs production of Long Day's Journey Into Night. Film: The Summoning of Everyman (Death), The Kindergarten Shuffle and the title role in the forthcoming Christopher Marlowe's The Jew of Malta. He is the lead vocal actor in the new World of Warcraft: Cataclysm. Mr. Duerr is a proud member of Actors' Equity Association and The Dramatists' Guild and serves on the Advisory Board of Wingspan Arts with Donna Murphy and Scott Schwartz. He will direct all of YSC's 10th Anniversary Season productions and play Antony, Antonio, Leontes, Orson Welles, Junius Brutus Booth, Lear, and reprise his celebrated performances as Ahab in Moby Dick – Rehearsed and four-time Emmy-winner RAndy Cohen's solo comedy The Punishing Blow. www.sethduerr.com
