Miles Cooper, Amanda Kruger And More Lead ELYSIAN FIELDS

Revolve Productions presents "Elysian Fields" by Chris Phillips at the New York International Fringe Festival at The Kraine Theater, 85 East 4th Street (bet Bowery & 2nd Ave - this is Venue # 11). The new play is co-directed by John Michael Beck and the author. Performances are: Monday, August 22 @ 8:45pm; Wednesday, 8/24 @ 4:30pm; Friday, 8/26 @ 8:00pm; Saturday, 8 27 @ 3:30pm; and Sunday 8/28 @ 12 Noon. The drama from Los Angeles is 1hr 40 mins.

Their plots set in motion by the mysterious, violent deaths of three men who, until now, were never given the chance to tell their stories in A Streetcar Named Desire; Suddenly Last Summer; Cat on a Hot Tin Roof - three classic plays. Elysian Fields pulls back the curtain that was drawn on Allan Grey, the shy young man only beginning to grasp the desires inside himself; Sebastian Venable, the doomed aesthete unable to escape his horrific past; and Skipper, the football hero who refuses to give up fighting for the love of his cowardly best friend, even in the face of a formidable rival. As all three collide with the people around them and the demons that haunt them, we witness firsthand the events that sent them hurtling towards their ultimate fates. "What always fascinated me about these three characters," states Phillips, "is how pivotal their roles were, even though they never got a chance to tell their side of the story. I wanted to simultaneously give them a voice and explore why Williams, due to the time period and his own personal demons, couldn't."

Miles Cooper (Allan) has portrayed such characters as Bat Boy in Bat Boy: The Musical, Charles in An Infinite Ache, Leaf Coneybear in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, Adam in Shakespeare Abridged and many more. Amanda Kruger (Blanche | Catharine | Maggie) professional theatre career began at the age of ten in The Seacoast Reperatory in Portsmouth, NH. From there she performed in numerous summer stock productions in a range of roles from Anybody's in West Side Story to Luisa in The Fantasticks. Aaron Hartzler (Skipper) is an actor and writer whose GLAAD Media nominated solo shows have been seen in NYC, LA and San Francisco. Regional credits include Into the Woods (Baker), The Last Night of Ballyhoo (Peachy), Grease! (Sonny), Cat on a Hot Tin Roof (Brick), and Much Ado About Nothing (Claudio). Scott Hinson (Sebastian) in LA appeared in The Village Variety Pack, Rant & Rave and I Love A Good Story. In NYC, he has worked at Off-Broadway theaters including Playwrights Horizons, Vineyard, Orpheum, Union Square, Signature, Minetta Lane and The Joyce. He is the author of a children's story Hermione the Brutal Poodle. Daniel Marks (Jackson | The Waiter | Brick) in addition to Film & Television work, some favorite theater credits include Camelot, Gypsy, and Chris Phillips' revolver. Kyle David Pierce (Swing) joins the cast from the sold-out Downtown L.A. production of Rent. Some past performances include Lysander in A Midsummer Night's Dream, Dickon in The Secret Garden, Baker in Into the Woods, Charlie in Flowers for Algernon.

Chris Phillips was raised in Austin, Texas, and while attending UT Austin, began writing and performing his own work. Nothing if not a masochist, his favorite course was Psychological Themes in Modern American Drama, and he took the same Shakespeare class multiple times to get different professors' interpretations of the tragedies. Once in Los Angeles, he worked as a contributing film reviewer for Movieline and Out magazines, which led to his editorial work at the SoCal publication Frontiers from 2001 to 2005. Last summer, Chris directed a production of his first play, revolver, as part at Los Angeles' Celebration Theatre. This year, revolver received a GLAAD Media Award nomination for Outstanding Los Angeles Theatre. This January, Chris directed a short film adapted from one of the vignettes featured in revolver, "the things i cannot change," coming soon to a film festival near you.
John Michael Beck recently took over the position of Artistic Director at the historic Celebration Theatre in Los Angeles after serving as a company member over the past three years in the roles of Producer, Development Director, Associate Artistic Director and Actor. He has produced and directed several events around Los Angeles such as the LA, USA and International Mr. Gay Competitions, which won the WeHo Award for Best Community Event. Prior to his work in LA, he acted and produced theatre in San Francisco with Theatre Rhinoceros, New Conservatory, and City Lights while founding SteinBeck Presents, whose mission was to identify and produce up-and-coming playwrights in the Bay Area. It's this passion for new work and scripts that led him to found Celebration Tuesdays at Celebration Theatre.
