Medicine Show Theatre Ensemble, one of New York's longest-running experimental theatres, will stage a production of Ten Blocks on the Camino Real by Tennessee Williams in January 2014. A preview performance is set for tonight, Jan. 3, 2014 at 8 p.m. Opening night is Saturday, Jan. 4, 2014 at 8 p.m. The show closes on Sunday, Jan. 26, 2014 at 6 p.m. Curtain times are Thursdays at 7 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., and Sundays at 6 p.m. The theatre is located at 549 W. 52nd Street, 3rd Floor, near 11th Ave., subway C/E 50th St.

This production uses Williams' scintillating original version of his script from 1949. It restores the full complement of music and dance, which Williams himself wrote into the piece. Most of that material was cut for the longer Broadway version which was first produced in 1953.

Medicine Show artistic director, Obie-award winner Barbara Vann directs a cast of 14. Composer Mark Shamrakov has composed original music for this production, which also include traditional Mexican folk music. Choreography is by Theresa Duhon and Matia Johnson.

Tickets are $18.00 for general admission, $15.00 for seniors and students. They are available from Smarttix at www.Smarttix.com or (212) 868-4444. For more information, log onto the company's website at www.MedicineShowTheatre.org.
