Manhattan Rep Presents World Premiere of John Doble's TEN COMMANDMENTS This Week

TEN COMMANDMENTS, a world premiere play written by John Doble -- about what happens when a sexy reporter interviews the Republican Party's foremost political operative -- will be produced by Michael Palmer and 11 West Productions.

Directed by Olivia Harris, TEN COMMANDMENTS stars Nicholas J. Pearson and Loralee Tyson. TEN COMMANDMENTS will play two performances at Manhattan Repertory Theatre (303 West 42nd Street, at 8th Ave., on the 6th Floor): Show times are, tonight - July 15th at 6:30 pm; and tomorrow - July 16th at 6:30 pm. In TEN COMMANDMENTS, all the dark secrets behind the Republican Party's success are revealed when an alluring female reporter goes one on one with the GOP's most powerful political mover and shaker.

Loralee Tyson -- seen to great effect in several productions of Mr. Doble's acclaimed play A SERIOUS PERSON -- plays the reporter. Nicholas Pearson -- also seen in Doble's work A SERIOUS PERSON AND THEN SOME at Manhattan Rep -- portrays the political operative.

JOHN DOBLE's earlier plays include A Serious Person (Best Play, Belper Arts Festival, UK); Tatyana and the Cable Man (Best Play, Midtown Short Play Festival, NYC); Coffee House, Greenwich Village (Neil LaBute New Play Festival, St. Louis); Reunion Run (NYC Fringe Festival); To Protect the Poets; The Mayor Who Would Be Sondheim (NYC Fringe Festival); and Three Blind Dates. His plays have also been performed in LA and Sonora, CA, Nantucket, Burlington, WI, and Binghamton, NY, as well as in London, Arundel, Westcliff-on-Sea, and Belper, UK. A collection of his short stories, Lefty and Other Stories (Clemson University, 2004), was nominated for the Southern Book Award.

NICHOLAS J. PEARSON (Man): Nicholas was seen in NYC in the Midtown International Theatre Festival in 2013 in John Doble's A Serious Person and Then Some and in 2010 in Rebecca Schlossberg's Merrily, Merrily, Merrily. Other NYC credits include Coffee House, Greenwich Village in the Manhattan Rep Winter Festival and numerous roles in the Jacob Kreuger Screenwriting Master Class Reading Series. Regionally, he has recently performed the role of Moose in Crazy for You with Prather Entertainment Group and the roles of Eddie in Rocky Horror and Sir Bedevere/Mrs. Galahad in Spamalot at Augusta, Michigan's, Barn Theatre (summers 2011 and 2012). LORALEE TYSON (Woman): C'est très excitant to be originating the role of Woman in Ten Commandments after several successful runs in another piece of John's (A Serious Person) at Manhattan Rep and in the MITF! Recent film credits include Frenemy Mine (Pizza Kids Productions, winner of audience choice award group B), Stranded at the Altar, The Grey Places, and The Day the Coffee Stopped Working. OLIVIA HARRIS (Director): Olivia Harris is thrilled to be working with John Doble for the seventh time. She is a Teaching Artist, director, and light designer from Cambridge, MA and Atlanta, GA. She has facilitated the creation of original theatrical productions with groups in New York, Nepal, New Jersey, Guatemala, and Afghanistan, and worked with incarcerated populations in Washington DC, New Jersey, and the Bronx. Olivia has worked with Bond Street Theatre, Arts for All, the Moth, Eric Hawkins Dance, Actor's Shakespeare Project, Impetuous Theatre Group, Piper Theater, Inventing Room Productions, Sunglasses After Dark, and Adaptive Arts. A graduate of Drew University and the CUNY School of Professional Studies, Olivia is currently working with 9th and 10th grade students in Harlem at the TRUCE Media and Arts after-school program.

John Doble's play TATYANA AND THE CABLE MAN - produced to considerable acclaim in NYC at Manhattan Repertory Theatre, by Michael Palmer and 11 West Productions - will return for a second engagement this summer in London at The Space Theatre's ONE SUMMER festival for two performances on July 31. Having had its international debut at The Space in January 2015 in a larger presentation of 17 plays, TATYANA is now one of 2 plays chosen from that batch to be remounted for ONE SUMMER. Actress Emma Blackman and director Sebastian Rex will repeat their acclaimed work for this return summer engagement.
