The Laurie Beechman Theatre is very pleased to announce the world-premiere production of Phil Geoffrey Bond's My Queer Youth, directed by Tony Award-winner, Michele Pawk. The solo performance piece, a humorous look at growing up queer amidst the cornfields of southern Indiana, will play the midtown venue for four performances only.

My Queer Youth is a humorous look at growing up queer in Farmland, USA. From invading the showtune section at the public library to asking a boy out on a date, the solo performance piece is set amongst the rolling cornfields of Southern Indiana, following our hero and his awakening to not only sexuality, but manhood.

Directed by Tony Award-winner Michele Pawk, My Queer Youth features MAC, Bistro and Nightlife Award-winning performer Phil Geoffrey Bond. Bond and Pawk reunite, having collaborated last year on Bond's play, The Disney Diaries, also at The Beechman.

He is also the recipient of the TimeOut New York Award as well as the Roger L Deakins Award, the largest creative writing award bestowed at NYU, his alma mater. His play, The Citadel, was workshopped at the Sundance Theatre Lab prior to its New York debut in 1998. Other works include The Other Side of Darkness (Bleecker St. Theatre, '07), My Roaring 20's: How I Learned to Drink Fast (The Laurie Beechman Theatre, '08) and The Disney Diaries (The Laurie Beechman Theatre, '09).
