The Midtown International Theater Festival presents the premiere of a new play by Jane Beale and Ronnie Cohen, CORRECTION. Are we really who we say we are? Inspired by actual events. The play is set for Monday, July 30 @ 7:30 p.m., Wednesday, August 1 @ 7:30 p.m. and Friday, August 3 @ 6 p.m. at Dorothy Strelsin Theatre, 312 W. 36th Street, 1st floor, New York City.

The New York Times announces the marriage of wealthy philanthropist, Sheldon Cooper, in a lavish ceremony attended by New York’s Who’s Who, to Jennifer Darling, a celebrated Park Avenue psychologist from the finest of schools. There is only one problem…Jennifer isn’t any of those things.

Master story tellers, Jane Beale and Ronnie Cohen (the writers behind the film, Dogs Lie), spin a morality tale laced with topical humor about how, through a correction printed in The New York Times, it is discovered that Dr. Darling is a fraud, aiming to ensure her future by altering her past and playing on the emotions of shattered people all around her – including her husband. Now facing prison and humiliation, we see that the only difference between Jennifer and those around her is that she gets caught.

The production, directed by Renee Rodriguez, is inspired by actual events, Correction is a reflection of our times – how history and the truth can be rewritten to suit our needs. The cast features Elizabeth Belonzi as the doctor in question – or the questionable doctor – and William McAndrews as her husband – for a short while anyway. Featured in the cast are Rivka Borek, Rebecca Smith, and Jasmine Webb.
