The HRT opens its 2014-15 season with Langston Hughes' TAMBOURINES TO GLORY from August 30th to October 5th.

TAMBOURINES TO GLORY features Mario Brown (Platanos and Colored Greens, Romeo and Juliet with the Modern Shakespeare Project) as Buddy Lomax and Kyria Geneva (The Wiz, Dreamgirls, Ain't Misbehavin' with the HRT) as Laura Wright. Langston Hughes, when asked to describe his play, wrote:

"It's a singing, shouting, wailing drama about the old conflict between blatant Evil and quiet Good, with the Devil driving a Cadillac. What kind of car have you got?"

The HRT's production of TAMBOURINES TO GLORY will be directed and choreographed by three-time AUDELCO winning director/choreographer, Keith Lee Grant. Andre Danke (Broadway: played keyboard for Memphis, Violet) has composed the jazz, blues and gospel score. A cast of fifteen talented and energetic singers/dancers/actors will perform TAMBOURINES TO GLORY in an environmental setting: playing scenes around the theatre space only inches away from the audience.

The HRT's 2014-15 season will be performed at its splendidly refurbished, multi-floor facility, The Harlem Repertory Theatre Arts Center, located at 308 West 133rd Street in the heart of Harlem.

Tickets can be purchased at SMARTTIX.com or by calling 917-697-3555 to make a reservation. Prices are $15, $20 and $50 (Premium Seating).
