Dialogue with Three Chords (D3C) presents new works that find familiar characters dealing with death, the afterlife and the spirits that stay with us. The three brand new works are the penultimate installment of "Shipyard Souls & A Compass Rose," a full-length play presented in installments which began last August. We revisit characters introduced in previous D3C shows, but the performances also function as stand-alone pieces. Written by Stephen Gracia and directed by Michael LoPorto, the serialized works are presented as part of their residency at Mr. Dennehy's on 63 Carmine Street in Greenwich Village. The performance begins at 8pm tonight, April 24. Admission is free, with a $3 suggested donation.

"Since the first night of the 'Shipyard Souls & A Compass Rose' narrative, we've been following the remains of Alex as his Christmas paper wrapped urn makes its way from Tennessee to San Francisco," explains Gracia, "while simultaneously watching his old crewmates deal with events before and after his death." In this performance, we finally meet the mysterious 'Alex' who, according to Gracia: "defends his status as a good luck charm, an albatross, and a sharp and shiny object that someone could build a life around."

"What This Life Demands Of Dogs And Ghosts" finds specters and bartenders in Red Hook's familiar "Wild Hunt" bar, discussing Country music, bar fights, and whether or not years matter to the dead. "Seven Ways Of Looking At A Magpie" takes the point of view that being a muse is a sucker's game. In "Set Me Free Upon A River Of The Sick, The Holy, and The Mad", Joshua and Whitney discuss Irish coffee, funeral rights, and whether they can live without each other.
