The Harlem Repertory Theatre presents an intimate chamber version of DREAMGIRLS with a cast of 10 that will be performed in the heart of Harlem.

The twelve-time AUDELCO-nominated Harlem Repertory Theatre is continuing its 2012-2013 season with an encore performance of its well reviewed production of Dreamgirls, performed as an intimate chamber version of the classic R&B musical drama. Ten talented actor/singers bring this dazzling rags to riches story to life in two settings: Act One will be played in the proscenium theatre at the 133rd Street Arts Center, while Act Two will be performed in the semi round with the actors performing onstage and around the audience.

Two-time AUDELCO winner, Keith Lee Grant, directed and choreographed the production. Mr. Grant shifts the focus of this iconic musical from flashy sets and costumes to the moment-to-moment emotional development of the characters: from aspiring novices in the 1960s R&B music industry to highly polished – albeit somewhat jaded – international stars.

Although the HRT is staging this more realistic approach to DREAMGIRLS, Mr. Grant and his company will not lose sight of the show's more glamorous aspects and crowd-pleasing theatrical elements: beautiful gowns, outstanding vocals and the energetic, astounding performances which are the hallmark of the HRT.

Featuring: Dion Millington (Effie), Natalia Peguero (Deena), Tatiana Adam, (Lorrell), Eric Myles (Jimmy), Oscar Aguirre (Curtis), Roberto Guzman (C.C.), Kyria Geneva (Michelle), Magnus Percinthe (Marty)

Keith Lee Grant (Director/Choreographer) is the founder and Artistic Director of the Harlem Repertory Theatre (HRT) and Full Professor in the Theatre Department at CCNY. He holds an M.F.A. from the Yale School of Drama, an M.A. from Penn State and a Certificate from the American Conservatory Theater's Advanced Training Program. He has directed and/or choreographed over ninety professional and university productions and has performed in Broadway/National productions of "Marie Christine," "Showboat" and "Ragtime." Mr. Grant's Off-Broadway/Regional credits are, Playwrights Horizons, the York Theater, the Jewish Repertory Theater, New Federal Theatre, The New York Theater Workshop the Yale Repertory Theatre, Syracuse Stage, The Oregon Shakespeare Festival and The Indiana Repertory Theatre. His 2009 HRT production of "The Wiz" won two AUDELCO awards, (Best Director of a Musical and Best Choreography of a Musical).
