Theatrical poster designer Frank Verlizzo is selling prints of some of his rejected designs for musicals such as Cabaret, The Lion King, and Matilda, to raise money for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS.

On Thursday, December 13th, Frank 'Fraver' Verlizzo will discuss his 5 decades as Broadway's award-winning theatrical poster designer with Broadway World's Richard Ridge in the Bruno Walter auditorium at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center. Verlizzo, known as 'FRAVER,' is the author of the best-selling FRAVER BY DESIGN: Five Decades of Theatre Post Art from Broadway, Off-Broadway, and Beyond which was published in May by Schiffer Publishing. The book includes over 250 of his theatre poster designs from Broadway, Off-Broadway, regional and international productions. The Lincoln Center Library event begins at 6 pm and admission is free.

Goodreads Press has published the second edition of Susan L. Schulman's popular memoir, BACKSTAGE PASS TO BROADWAY.  Sub-titled 'MORE True Tales of a Theatre Press Agent,' the second edition includes several new chapters, expanded stories and additional never-before-seen photos from the author's personal collection.

His posters encompass those created for Rodgers & Hammerstein, The Kennedy Center, and New York City Center's Encores! series. Fraver by Design also features an additional 40 unpublished poster sketches never before seen for some of Broadway's favorite shows. After hearing the outpouring of concern and support for the category, the Drama Desk Executive Board has announced that they will reinstate the category for this year's awards show on June 3 at The Town Hall.

Today, the Drama Desk organization announced that it will recognize The New Victory Theater, New York's first and only theater devoted to kids and families, with a special 2011-12 honor for "providing enchanting, sophisticated children's theater that appeals to the child in all of us, and for nurturing a love of theater in young people."

Nominations for the 57th Annual Drama Desk Awards will be announced at a news conference on Friday, April 27, 2011, at 9:30 AM at Feinstein's at the Loews Regency, 540 Park Avenue at 61st Street, in Manhattan.
