The York Theatre Company, dedicated to the development of new musicals and preserving musical gems from the past, launches its 45th anniversary season with a series of Special Events that offer something for every musical theatre lover's enjoyment.

Upcoming Special Events at The York include On the Air: Songs for Marian McPartland, a musical tribute honoring the legendary radio host, starring vocalist and radio personality Stacy Sullivan, with Jon Weber, on piano. When Marian McPartland died on August 31, 2013 at the age of 95, she left a bereaved public a legacy of untold musical wealth. Who best to communicate Marian McPartland's astounding legacy than Stacy Sullivan, award-winning international vocalist and radio personality, and piano wizard Jon Weber, who succeeded Marian as Piano Jazz host. These combined talents do Marian proud with a polished review of the Grande Dame's life and music, interwoven with favorites from the American Songbook. FOUR PERFORMANCES ONLY, September 26 - 28, 2014.

Immediately followed by A Maestro's Memoirs: An Evening with Broadway's Donald Pippin with the legendary Broadway conductor and featuring Tony Award-winner Debbie Gravitte and Nat Chandler. After 50 years' association with Broadway Musicals, and as guest conductor with major symphony orchestras, Donald Pippin (A Chorus Line, La Cage aux Folles) will share his "inside" stories in a performance that wows with its spectacular combination of music, narrative and visuals that captures the defining moments in his life and career. ONE NIGHT ONLY, Tuesday, September 30, 2014.

York Theatre Company partners with producers Amy Engelhardt and Heather Shields to present a new game show for musical theater lovers called Tune in Time, hosted by Emily McNamara, music direction by Nate Buccieri, with Sheila Head as the annoyingly insistent timekeeper. In this "musical theater Olympics," three teams of composers and lyricists - who have never worked together - are forced to collaborate - and to beat the clock! Their task is to write a song for a new Broadway musical, the title of which is picked from a hatful of audience suggestions, in a style determined by a spin of the dreaded "Genre Wheel" - all within 20 minutes. Tune in Time is an evening of edge-of-your-seat suspense, brain-frying bravery, and Broadway trivia. Each edition features a different roster of musical theater composters and lyricists as well as a panel of celebrity judges who pick the winner. FOUR PERFORMAMANCES: October 14, 2014, October 28, 2014, November 11, 2014 and December 2, 2014.

Tickets for On the Air: Songs for Marian McPartland and A Maestro's Memoirs: An Evening with Broadway's Donald Pippin are priced at $49 and $35 with a discount code (york35). General Admission ticke14ts for Tune in Time are priced at $25. All above special event performances will take place at The York Theatre Company's home at Saint Peters (Citicorp Building, entrance on East 54th Street, just east of Lexington Avenue).
