Women's Project, the 33-year-old non-profit theater dedicated to producing plays written and directed by women, announced at its annual meeting Tuesday night (11/16) that it will present the premiere of Lynn Rosen's comedy, Apple Cove, directed by Giovanna Sardelli and starring Cassie Beck, Paul Carlin, Erin Gann, Allison Mack and Dion Mucciacito. Previews for Apple Cove begin Saturday, January 29, at 8:00pm for an opening Sunday, February 6, at 7:00pm at Women's Project, 424 West 55th Street.

All is not what it seems when newlyweds move into the gated community of Apple Cove, a seemingly safe haven from the chaotic world outside its gates. But when forbidden roses start popping up in their garden, they quickly learn that nothing, not even electric gates, can keep nature out. Especially one's own nature.

Cassie Beck received acclaim in Smudge last year at Women's Project and in Drunken City at Playwrights Horizons in 2008. Paul Carlin won plaudits for After the Ball at Irish Rep. Erin Gann was seen in The Aliens at Rattlestick and The Cherry Orchard at the Atlantic Theatre. Allison Mack is one of the stars of TV's Superman series Smallville. Dion Mucciacito appeared in The Age of Iron at CSC.

Lynn Rosen's plays include Washed Up On The Potomac, Back From The Front, Ideal Home, Nighthawks, NEXT! and Puddy Tat. Ms. Rosen was a member of the Women's Project Playwrights Lab from 2008 to 2010. Her play Back from the Front is published in Out of Time & Place: An Anthology of Plays by the Women's Project Playwrights Lab Volume 1 edited by Alexis Clements with Christine Evans (Women's Project & Productions, Inc 2010).

Director Giovanna Sardelli's credits include Wildflower by Lila Rose Kaplan, Rajiv Joseph's plays Animals Out of Paper (Callaway Award for Outstanding Director), All This Intimacy (all for Second Stage Uptown), The Leopard and The Fox (Alter Ego), Huck & Holden (Cherry Lane); Absalom by Zoe Kazan (ATL Humana Festival), Lynn Rosen's Back From The Front; Taking Flight (The Goodman, CTG, San Diego Rep and Sundance Institute Theatre Lab).

Scott Bradley will design the sets for Apple Cove; Amy Clark, the costumes; Japhy Weideman, the lights; and Bart Fasbender, the sound.
