Torben Betts' INVINCIBLE to Make U.S. Debut at 59E59 Theaters

59E59 Theaters will host the US premiere of INVINCIBLE written by Torben Betts, directed by Stephen Darcy, with original direction by Christopher Harper, at Brits Off Broadway. Produced by The Original Theatre Company & Ghost Light Theatre Productions, INVINCIBLE begins performances on Thursday, June 1 for a limited engagement through Sunday, July 2. Press Opening is Tuesday, June 13 at 7 PM.

The performance schedule is Tuesday - Thursday at 7 PM; Friday 8 PM; Saturday at 2 PM & 8 PM; and Sunday at 3 PM. With the recession biting hard, Emily and Oliver have decided to downsize and shift their middleclass London lifestyle to a small town in the north of England. One night, they open their doors and invite next door neighbors, Dawn and Alan, into their home. Over the course of a disastrous evening of olives, anchovies, Karl Marx, and abstract art, class and culture collide where the consequences are as tragic as they are hilarious.

This "laugh-out-loud" (Evening Standard) comedy transferred to the St. James Theatre in the West End in 2015, garnering rave reviews.

The cast features ElizaBeth Boag (Alan Ayckbourn's Hero's Welcome, Confusions, and Arrivals & Departures at Brits Off Broadway), Emily Bowker (London Wall at the Finborough and the St. James Theatre), Graeme Brookes (Tanika's Journey with Frantic Assembly), and Alastair Whatley (Henry V at the Royal Shakespeare Company).

Stephen Darcy (director) trained as an actor at RADA and as a director at Birkbeck, University of London. He also has a BA in theatre from Trinity College Dublin. Directing work includes: Stair Wars(Fibin Galway & Tour); One in a Million (Aberdeen, Òran Mór, Traverse); Rum and Vodka (Citizens Theatre); Bite Big Apple (Southwark Playhouse); Richard III (RADA Enterprises Tour); The Magic (Soho Theatre & 503); Chelsea Hotel (RADA Festival) and Taste of Tears (Nursery Festival). As Assistant Director: Endgame, Fever Dream:Southside, Into That Darkness, Hamlet and A Christmas Carol (Citizens Theatre).

Christopher Harper (original director). Directing credits include: Invincible, See How They Run, Twelfth Night and Dancing at Lughnasa. Also Associate Director on Birdsong Productions tour of Shadowlands. He created and runs the Original Labs and Original Reads initiatives, through which Original Theatre Company nurtures and develops new work and emerging artists, performing readings and holding workshops in London and throughout the UK. As an actor, he can be seen as Nathan Curtis in Coronation Street. Previous TV credits include Cliff Last in Victoria Woods' Housewife, 49 (ITV) and Cecil Beaton in Upstairs Downstairs (BBC). Harper trained at Bristol Old Vic Theatre School and has appeared at The Globe, Hampstead Theatre, The Royal Exchange, Sheffield Crucible and on tour as Stanhope in Original Theatre's 2010 production of Journey's End.
