Today, the Theatrical Sound Designers and Composers Association (TSDCA) announced their first annual membership meeting, with events for both members as well as the general public.

On May 21st-22nd, the TSDCA will hold two days of public panels and discussions regarding sound design and composition in theatre. It will be held at The Peter Sharp Theatre, 416 W. 42nd St., New York, NY 10036 from 11am-8pm on May 21st , and 10:30am-10pm on May 22nd .

This year's meeting will be held in memory of Mark Menard. A lifetime achievement award this year goes to Abe Jacob. Jacob is a pioneer and essentially established modern sound design on Broadway. He has mentored many of the current generation of sound designers. A few of his Broadway credits include the original productions of Hair, Jesus Christ Superstar, Pippin, A Chorus Line, Chicago, The Rocky Horror Show and Evita. Guest speakers and panelists will include some of the most prominent designers and composers working in the industry today. A full list of events follow below and all panels are open to the public.

TSDCA is a professional membership organization of sound designers and composers for the performing arts working in the United States. The second meeting of their membership will take place on May 22nd, followed by a full public launch of their website www.tsdca.org.

The website of TSDCA has been designed to serve two functions:

- To be a "home base" for the theatrical sound design and composition community, allowing members to network directly about job opportunities, mentorship, and share information for the mutual benefit of all members.

- To be an educational resource for the general public to learn more about the art forms of theatrical sound design and composition. Current media includes articles on the history of sound design, a look at the artistry of the jobs of sound designer and composer for theatre, and interviews with artists currently working in American theatre today. Future plans include a video series and other interactive media to engage site visitors in the artistry of sound design and composition for theatre.

TSDCA's corporate members include: Meyer Sound, d&b audiotechnik, DPA Microphones, Figure53, L'Acoustics, Lectrosonics, Lighting & Sound America Magazine, Masque Sound, Point Source Audio, and TiMax.
