59E59 Theaters (Elysabeth Kleinhans, Artistic Director; Peter Tear, Executive Producer) welcomes the New York premiere of THE PLAY ABOUT MY DAD, written by Boo Killebrew and directed by Sunday Lee Evans, which is part of Americas Off Broadway. Produced by CollaborationTown, THE PLAY ABOUT MY DAD begins previews on Thursday, June 16 for a limited engagement through Saturday, July 2. Press opening is Wednesday, June 22 at 7:30 PM. The performance schedule is Tuesday - Thursday at 7:30 PM, Friday & Saturday at 8:30 PM; and Sunday at 3:30 PM. The regular ticket price is $18 ($12.60 for 59E59 Members). THE PLAY ABOUT MY DAD is a look at Larry Killebrew. His words, his family, his job as an emergency room surgeon, his community of Gulfport, Mississippi, and Hurricane Katrina, which almost turned Gulfport into a coral reef.

The cast includes Tracey Gilbert (Busted Jesus Comix at Access Theatre), Anna Greenfield (New York Living at The Flea), Annie Henk, Jordan Mahome (Katori Hall's Mountaintop at The Lark), Jay Potter (Transport Group's Dark at the Top of the Stairs), David Rosenblatt (Mother at the Wild Project), Juan Francisco Villa (Elliot: A Soldier's Fugue at Steppenwolf) and TJ Witham.

The design team includes Kate Foster?(sets), Beth Goldenberg?(costumes) and Nicholas Houfek (lights). The production stage manager is Kelly "Kiki" Hess.

Boo Killebrew (playwright) is a playwright, choreographer, actress and co-founder of CollaborationTown, A Theatre Company. Her plays include THE PLAY ABOUT MY DAD (nominated by New Georges for The Susan Smith Blackburn Prize), THE MOMENTUM (NYC Fringe Festival, Fringe Excellence Award for Overall Production of a Play, co-writer), THEY'RE JUST LIKE US (L.A. premiere at Theatre of Note, NY premiere with CTown, published by The New York Theatre Experience), TRUE LOVE WAITS (L.A. Theatre of Note, NY Blue Coyote Theatre Group), and PULLING TEETH (Blue Coyote). Boo and/or her work has appeared at The Roundabout Theatre Company (SPEECH AND DEBATE), The Public Theater, The Living Theatre, The New York Musical Theatre Festival, LaMaMa Etc., The Huntington Theatre Co., The Village Theatre, The Olney Theatre Center, 59E59 Theaters, and Boston Playwright's Theatre. Boo received a New York Innovative Theatre Award for Outstanding Featured Actress and Best Ensemble, 3 NYIT nominations for playwriting and acting, 2 New York Fringe Festival Awards of Excellence, The Bette Davis Foundation Award (Boston University), 3 residencies at Robert Wilson's Watermill Center, an Edward F. Albee Foundation Fellow, a NYFA Resident, and was a 2008 NYFA Panelist. BFA, Boston University.

Lee Sunday Evans (director) is a director, choreographer and teaching artist. As the Associate Director of Young Jean Lee's Theater Company: THE SHIPMENT (Wexner Center, The Kitchen) and LEAR (Soho Rep). For CollaborationTown: THE MOMENTUM (NYFringe 2011 Best Play Award, Laurie Beechman Theater, Emerging Americas Festival). Other directing credits include PRAGUE (The Jam, New Georges), THE NEXT THING, WAYS TO SURVIVE THE WORLD (Williamstown Workshop), HOW I WON THE CAMPBELL PRIZE, THE DROWNED WORLD (Intimate Collisions). As choreographer: FULL (The Tank), BIG MONEY, a new musical by Kyle Jarrow and Nathan Leigh (Williamstown); GODSPELL (Olney Theater Center). In addition to her work as a director, Lee has danced at locations around NYC with ann and alexx make dances, taught theater workshops in NYC public schools and was a Teaching Artist with the International Theater & Literacy Project in Arusha, Tanzania.
