SummerStage as announced the continuation of their first theater season with the world premiere of Goodbar, music and lyrics by Bambï and Directed by Arian Moayed. This show is a part of SummerStage's summer-long FREE theater program and will take place in East River Park, Manhattan on Friday, August 20th to Sunday, August 21st at 8:00 p.m.

Reviving the lost art of the Live Concept Album, NYC rock band, Bambï, teams up with downtown theatre company, Waterwell, to tackle one of the most controversial pop culture artifacts from the ‘70s, Looking for Mr. Goodbar. Taking inspiration from both the film starring Diane Keaton and the novel by Judith Rossner, Bambï and Waterwell explore the timeless themes of sexuality, independence and persona as seen refracted through a disco ball. Join Bambï and Waterwell as they take on this dark classic, celebrating New York in all its grim glamour.

"It's really great to be able to work with and support theater companies that are young and innovative," said City Park Foundation's Director of Theater Programs, Freedome Bradley. "In working with Waterwell a couple of years ago on The King Operetta we were able to create one of the most magical moments in our short history when we totally lost power fifteen minutes before the plays' conclusion. Instead of cancelling the remainder of the play the cast called the entire audience down and performed the remaining songs acapella. Goodbar is our second collaboration and we couldn't be more pleased to have them create more magical moments."

The full cast of Goodbar includes Hanna Cheek, Cara Jeiven, Jimmie Marlowe, Tobi Parks and Kevin Townley.

The creative team for Goodbar includes Nick Benacerraf (Scenic Designer), Adam Frank (Lighting Designer), Erik Bergrin (Costume Designer), Alex Koch (Video Designer) and Robert Signom, III (Stage Manager).

This year in honor of the 25th anniversary, SummerStage is excited to have expanded from Central Park to encompass all five boroughs, and will feature productions in Von King Park, Brooklyn, Betsy Head Park, Brooklyn, St. Mary's Park, Bronx, Crotona Park, Bronx, Springfield Park, Queens, Marcus Garvey Park, Manhattan and East River Park, Manhattan.
