Soho Rep. - the eleven-time OBIE Award-winning, Off-Broadway Theatre Company - will host a special benefit performance of the Manhattan Theatre Club production of Polly Stenham's play THAT FACE, directed by Soho Rep Artistic Director Sarah Benson (Drama Desk nominee and OBIE award winner for her direction of last season's BLASTED) on Friday, May 7th, 2010 at New York City Center Stage 1 (131 West 55th Street) in Manhattan.

THAT FACE - heralded as "a fizzing, glittering firework display of fresh talent," by the London Times - is a powerful and darkly comic look at an affluent family in freefall. This Olivier Award-nominated play from Britain's fastest-rising young playwright makes its New York Premiere with the Obie Award-winning director of last season's critically acclaimed, twice extended, sold out run of BLASTED.

The cast of THAT FACE features Christopher Abbott (Good Boys and True at Second Stage), Maïté Alina (Off-Broadway debut), Betty Gilpin (Good Boys and True and Boys' Life at Second Stage), Cristin Milioti (The Heart Is A Lonely Hunter at NYTW), Laila Robins (Frozen), and Victor Slezak (Salome).

The Soho Rep. benefit committee includes Olympia Dukakis, Anne Hamburger, Buck Henry & Irene Ramp, Joseph V. Melillo, Tim Blake Nelson, Marian Seldes, Michael Stuhlbarg & Lili Taylor.

The special Soho Rep. benefit performance of THAT FACE, benefiting the eleven-time OBIE Award-winning Off-Broadway Theatre Company - will be held on Friday, May 7th at 8:00pm at New York City Center Stage 1 (131 West 55th Street) followed by an exclusive cocktail reception with Ms. Benson and the creative team of THAT FACE.

Tickets range from $175 to $500 for a special dinner experience with a pre-performance private dinner with benefit committee members and Ms. Benson, as well as premium seating for the performance and post-performance cocktail reception. $75 tickets are also available for the cocktail party only. Tickets can be purchased by visiting www.sohorep.org/thatfacebenefit.html or by calling 212-941-8632 ext. 202.

Up next at Soho Rep. is Cynthia Hopkins' - creator of the critically acclaimed "Accidental Trilogy" at St. Ann's Warehouse - new work THE TRUTH: A TRAGEDY, which begins previews on May 6th, prior to an official press opening of May 13th at Soho Rep. (46 Walker Street) in Manhattan.

Now in its 34th year, Soho Rep.'s 2009-10 season is the third under the leadership of Artistic Director, Sarah Benson, and the second for Executive Director, Tania Camargo. Soho Rep. is dedicated to cultivating and producing visionary, uncompromising, and exuberant new plays. They perform to one of the youngest adult audiences in New York City, with over three-quarters aged 18-40.

Critics continue to herald Soho Rep. as the go-to theatre destination for new and original works. New York Magazine states, "this indispensable theater offers more excitement per chair than any space in town," Time Out New York says, "Soho Rep. is the best theater in NYC (official)," Variety exclaims "[Soho Rep.] has claimed an increasingly vital spot...the venue has suddenly become one to watch for Manhattan theatergoers starved for new work," and the New York Times declares Soho Rep. to be "the downtown powerhouse Soho Rep... one of the most daring companies."

Over the last decade, Soho Rep. productions have garnered eleven OBIE Awards -- most recently for Sarah Benson (director) and Louisa Thompson (set designer) for last season's critically acclaimed New York premiere of Sarah Kane's BLASTED; six Drama Desk nominations, two for BLASTED (Outstanding Director of a Play - Sarah Benson and Outstanding Actor in a Play - Reed Birney) and four for their critically acclaimed production of FRANKENSTEIN, the Oppenheimer Award for EVERYTHING WILL BE DIFFERENT, and two Kesselring Awards for Melissa James Gibson and Mark Schultz.
