If you read your New York Times today, you know that Bill Bragin was the former booker for Joe's Pub, and is now leading two summer programs at Lincoln Center as their Director of Public Programming at the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts. Today, The Public Theater (Artistic Director Oskar Eustis; Executive Director Mara Manus) announced today that they have named Shanta Thake as the new Director of Joe's Pub.  Thake has been serving as Acting Director of Joe's Pub since the departure of Bill Bragin in December.

Joe's Pub and Shanta have been great to BroadwayWorld.com as we presented many fundraisers for BC/EFA consisting of lineups, concerts and events. Joe's Pub also provides a venue for Broadway performers in their "off hours" to spread their wings or to promote recordings.

Shanta Thake has worked at Joe's Pub at the Public Theater for over 5 years, bringing well over 700 diverse performances and artists every year to the Pub music scene.  Thake serves on the board of the acclaimed up and coming theater company, Waterwell and is an Associate Producer of Weimar New York, a cabaret event that juxtaposes the aesthetic and music of Weimar-era Berlin with that of the contemporary downtown performance scene in New York City.  She serves as the Music Consultant and Late Night Event Producer for the New York Television Festival and has also worked for George C. Wolfe, most recently assistant directing the world premiere of This Is How It Goes featuring Ben Stiller, Amanda Peet and Jeffrey Wright.

Thake will lead a Joe's Pub team that includes Sara Beesley, Jo Lampert, Jennie Wasserman, Alex Onish, Jon Shriver and KJ Hardy in association with Joe's Pub LLC partners Kevin Abbott, Andrew Dainoff, KB Berton and Rebecca Elroy.

Joe's Pub debuted in October 1998 and has quickly become one of New York City's most celebrated and in-demand showcase venues for live music and performance. With its genre-blind booking and vast diversity of interests, the stage at Joe's Pub gives voice to a world of varied and stellar artists.  With impeccable sound and lights, the warm and intimate candlelit atmosphere of Joe's Pub is filled with plush velvet couches, softly glowing lucite tables and gorgeously understated architecture. Joe's Pub is open seven days a week, regularly hosting as many as three shows a day.  In addition to the Pub's reputation of presenting internationally known stars, Joe's Pub has also developed into a premier showcase stage for up-and-coming musicians and emerging artists from a variety of disciplines.
