ShakespeareNYC will begin their 2008/2009 season with Henry IV, parts 1 & 2, performed in repertory. Artistic Director Beverly Bullock will direct & costume design, with sound design by John Ivy & fight direction by Al Foote III. The production will run from September 11-27 at The Clurman Theatre on Theatre Row. Performance times for each part will vary, but on Saturdays, Part 1 will be at 2pm & Part 2 at 8pm, allowing for both in one day.

Continuing with their English History Cycle, ShakespeareNYC presents the story of Henry Bolingbroke, Richard II's usurper, who became Henry IV, his son, the wayward Prince Hal & Hal's mentor, the immoral, immortal Sir John Falstaff. Shakespeare's characteristically exquisite sense of balance & playmanship juxtapose scenes of Realpolitic, tavern trawling & wrenching family dynamics, to sublime effect.

Appearing as King Henry IV, will be Peter Galman*, who played opposite Julie Harris in Forty Carats on Broadway,  as Lenny in The Homecoming & as Shylock in The Merchant of Venice with Classic Stage Company. Featured in this AEA Approved Showcase Production are Nathan Carlos Clifford, Benjamin Curns, Vanessa Elder, Steven Eng*, Joe Hamel, Peter Herrick*, Mark Jeter,  Miriam Lipner, Yury Lomakin, John Montague, Brian Morvant, Joseph Mitchell  Parks*, Joann Sacco, Joseph Small*, Nicholas Stannard*, Donna Stearns, & Joshua Baker  Vink*.

ShakespeareNYC is a company of artists dedicated to presenting the entire Canon of Shakespeare's plays in theatrically gripping & beautiful productions. Their motto is "Trust Shakespeare" & they strive for clarity & wit, the appreciation & exploration of heightened speech & the timelessness of Shakespeare's moral vision. They believe, above all, that these astonishing masterpieces need only to be played well, according to their own requirements, not dumbed down or goosed up, to entertain, delight, move & thrill everybody who comes in contact with them. ShakespeareNYC is a 501 (c) 3 company & all donations are tax deductible.
