Playwright/director Charles Messina, best known for last year's critically acclaimed play A ROOM OF MY OWN starring Ralph Macchio and Mario Cantone, is directing a staged reading of Kathleen Kaan's new play Teddy's Doll House.

The reading will be performed on Monday, April 3rd at 7:00PM at The Cherry Lane Theater, located at 38 Commerce Street, by invitation only.

It will star Broadway veteran and Tony Award nominee Robert Cuccioli (Jekyl & Hyde). The rest of the stellar cast includes Marina Re, Johnny Tammaro, Joli Tribuzio, Caroline Rossi, Joey Mirabile and Julia Macchio.

Teddy's Doll House is a comedy-drama set in 1985 in New York's Alphabet City. It is a poignant story about a man's unfulfilled dreams, his struggle with aging, AIDS, lost love and missed opportunities. People wax nostalgic for a time when small family businesses dotted the landscape, and neighbors knew each other by name. Teddy's Doll House is a personal, heartfelt play that serves as a commentary on the gentrification of NYC and on those who try to hold onto the past while keeping their families and livelihoods intact during changing times.
