Variations Theatre Group's acclaimed production of David Rabe's HURLYBURLY will end its limited run today, March 1st at The Chain Theatre. The original production of HURLYBURLY took New York by storm in 1984, directed by Mike Nichols. Although the long-running Broadway hit was presented in three acts, David Rabe pared his script into a leaner two-act version for the 2005 Off-Broadway revival starring Ethan Hawke and Bobby Cannavale. It is this revised version which is presented by Variations Theatre Group by special arrangement with the playwright.

Under the direction of Rich Ferraioli, the cast of HURLYBURLY features Deven Anderson (GHOSTS OF PROVINCETOWN, New World Stages), Jacklyn Collier* (A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM, Pulse Ensemble Theatre), Rachel Cora* (EDMOND, Labyrinth Theater Co.), Kirk Gostkowski (DAILY SOUNDS, FringeNYC), Chris Harcum* (AMERICAN GUN SHOW, The Edinburgh Festival), Brandon Scott Hughes (BELOW, Fringe Encore), and Christina Elise Perry* (INTERVIEWS, Big Apple Film Festival). Set in the cocaine-and-sex-infused Hollywood Hills of the mid-1980s, HURLYBURLY is a chilling comedy focusing on four men caught in a world of parties, backbiting, lies, and self-obsession in the decade of decadence. But a string of encounters with destiny convinces one of them to dig beneath the surface to discover his soul.

David Rabe's other plays include STREAMERS, STICKS AND BONES (Tony Award, Best Play), THE BASIC TRAINING OF PAVLO HUMMEL, and BOOM BOOM ROOM. Rabe penned the screenplays for THE FIRM, CASUALTIES OF WAR, STREAMERS, and I'M DANCING AS FAST AS I CAN. Director Rich Ferraioli is Co-Artistic Director of Variations Theatre Group, where he helmed their productions of FOOL FOR LOVE, AFTER THE FALL and THE SHAPE OF THINGS.

Production design for HURLYBURLY is by R. Allen Babcock, with costume design by Samantha Newby.
