Musicals Tonight! will present Same Time, Next Year, the Musical, based on Bernard Slade's 1975 play Same Time, Next Year with music and lyrics by Stan Daniels. This is a new work, never before seen in New York. It will run April 2-14, 2013 at The Lion Theatre at Theatre Row.

Doris (Brigid Brady) and George (Peter Davenport) are happily married - to others - when they meet and have an affair at an inn in Mendocino in 1951. Their initial feelings of guilt are assuaged as they quickly come to know each other during that February weekend - not that their physical attractions are forgotten. They return, each year, and we see them every five years until 1975. Each "anniversary" brings, as it must, physical changes but the real driving force of the musical is seeing how they change emotionally. There is a Greek chorus who represent previous and future Georges and Doris' and they comment on the changes occurring (Jefferson Behan, Christie Dabreau, Zane Gerson, Rob Lorey, Tracy Michailidis and Adrienne Stiefel). And of course there's The Bed (John Alban Coughlan) who, because he sees "a side of people that is seldom seen", shares his views with us as well.

The show is directed by Thomas Sabella-Mills with musical direction by David B. Bishop (Music Director).

Running April 2-14, 2013, Same Time, Next Year will play Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday/Saturday at 7:30 and Wednesday/Friday/Saturday/Sunday at 2:00. All performances take place at The Lion Theatre at Theatre Row (410 West 42nd Street between 9th & 10th). Tickets are $25 from the box office or TeleCharge 212-239-6200.
