The Misfit Toys Repertory Company, a new NYC based ensemble with a mission to explore and expand boundaries of type and character through non-traditional casting and education, is proud to announce its first annual Misfit Festival which will run from August 4th-17th 2008 at Tom Noonan's Paradise Factory Theatre at 64 East 4th Street in NYC.

The Festival has been arranged to highlight the programs and mission of this new ensemble. The first week features productions of 'CSI:Verona' (directed by Joe Leo), an adaptation of Shakespeare's 'Romeo and Juliet' set within a satirical look at popular entertainment which the Company plans to offer to local schools in the Fall as part of its educational outreach mission. The second week centers around a run of Mixed Signals, an evening of one act plays exploring misfit relationships making their New York City premieres as part of a new works program. The evening includes 'Chemosynthesis' by Jason Williamson (Directed by Lindsey Austen), 'Below The Belt' by Dennis Bush (Directed by Anthony Castellano), 'Living Things' by Jason Williamson (Directed by Zelda Knapp) and 'Rock' By Montserrat Mendez (Directed by Andi Cohen).

In addition to these exciting new works, the Festival also features staged readings by the Misfit Youth teen company; Microwave Shakespeare, a hilarious introduction to the techniques and methods presented in the Cue Script Workshops that Misfit Toys is offering free to educators over the next few months; and several cabaret performances featuring Company members challenging the usual boundaries set by type, age, and gender.
