The Drama Desk nominated MARVELL REP will present its Winter 2013 Repertory Project, Desire & Delusion: 3 plays in repertory, from February 8 - March 17, at TBG Theatre, 312 West 36th Street. The project will feature the company's first World Premiere, NIGHT GAMES, a new play written & directed by MARVELL REP Artistic Director, Lenny Leibowitz (February 8-March 6), adapted from the novella Spiel im Morgengrauen, by Arthur Schnitzler. NIGHT GAMES will be followed (in repertory) by SECRETS, The Untold Story of Sigmund Freud & Carl Jung, an original play written & directed by Ken Wydro (February 11-March 10) & FLIRTATION written by Arthur Schnitzler& also directed by Lenny Leibowitz (February 19 - March 17, 2013). Scenic Design is by Kenichi Takahashi (NIGHT GAMES & FLIRTATION) & Zhanna Gurvich (SECRETS); Costume Design by Jennifer Raskopf(NIGHT GAMES & SECRETS) & Susan Nester(FLIRTATION) & Lighting Design by Nicholas Houfek.

According to Leibowitz, "All three plays take place in fin de siècle Vienna, a city on the cusp of the modern era, a time when desire & delusion, cruelty & egotism, roiled beneath the glittering, gilded surfaces of the city. It was also a time of great intellectual & artistic explosion, when Freud's research & Schnitzler's insights into the human heart, stood side by side. The two men admired each other, but only at arm's length; they read each other's publications throughout their careers; Schnitzler called Freud his 'double' & Freud called Schnitzler his 'psychic twin,' yet, despite living near each other in Vienna & following each other's work with great interest, they did not meet until both men were in their sixties. This project pays particular homage to Schnitzler, whose undervalued genius we hope to reveal through the productions of FLIRTATION & NIGHT GAMES. He wrote, with soul-stirring eloquence, about people whose hearts are being torn apart, as if by wild horses."

Amy Estes, Marvell Rep's managing director, said, "This is an especially exciting moment for Marvell Rep, as we begin our third season. NIGHT GAMES is our first world premiere. Debuting it in a repertory project that also includes one of Arthur Schnitzler's most enduring, haunting works & Ken Wydro's original play, SECRETS, allows us to realize our mission of testing new works alongside classics that have stood the test of time. The connections between the plays & the relationship between Schnitzler & Freud will deepen the experience for adventurous audience members who choose to see all three plays."

In NIGHT GAMES, a steamy thriller, the protagonist, Lt. Willi Kasda, agrees to help a friend in need. Short of cash, Willi turns to cards & finds himself on a winning streak so extraordinary, that it promises to change his life forever. When his luck turns, he seeks the help of a former lover. With his fate in her hands, Willi gambles all he has to hold on to his honor & to win back this mysterious lady of great fortune.

Starring in NIGHT GAMES are John Windsor-Cunningham*, Kevin Gilmartin*, Angus Hepburn*, Susannah Jones, George Michael Kennedy, Drake Nester, Markus Potter*, Emma Rosenthal*, Geddeth Smith*, Jeremy Smith*, Emelie Faith Thompson & Isaac Woofter*.

SECRETS dramatizes the intense personal & professional relationship between Sigmund Freud & Carl Gustav Jung, during the early years of psychoanalysis, 1907 - 1913 & is based on the 1000 letters shared between both men.

Starring in SECRETS are Anita Anthonj, Demetri Bonaros*, Cooper Grodin*, John Michalski* & Natalia Volkadaeva.

In FLIRTATION, Fritz, a dashing young officer with only pursuits of love to occupy his days, obsesses about the married woman with whom he has been having an affair. But, in this beguiling romantic drama, it is Christine, the lovely & innocent milliner who has fallen passionately in love with Fritz, who refuses to play the game of love according to the rules of the time.

Starring in FLIRTATION are Bonnie Fraser*, Kevin Gilmartin*, Rita Harvey*, Jed Peterson*, Christopher Ryan*, Sky Seals* & Caitlin Wise*.

LENNY LEIBOWITZ & AMY ESTES created MARVELL REP in 2010, from their passion for working in rotating repertory & their shared conviction that New York theatre audiences - the best in the world - shouldn't have to go to Oregon, California, or Canada, to regularly see real rep. Since then, they have given New York theatre actors & audiences the kind of full-immersion theatre experience that only rotating rep can provide.

MARVELL REP'S inaugural season, "Women in Revolt," featured four magnificent, underperformed works from the world literature, including Nora, Ingmar Bergman's adaptation of Ibsen's A Doll's House; In the Shadow of the Glen, the darkly funny one-act by J.M. Synge; Blood Wedding, by Federico Garcia Lorca, & the New York premiere of Joseph C. Landis' translation of The Dybbuk by S. Ansky, running in rotating repertory at the Abingdon Theatre Arts Complex, in 2011.

In 2012, MARVELL REP offered a season of four "Burned & Banned" works, beginning with the New York premiere of Professor Bernhardi by Arthur Schnitzler & The Threepenny Opera by Bertolt Brecht & Kurt Weill. Critics raved about both productions & in May, MARVELL REP'S Threepenny Opera was nominated for a Drama Desk Award for Best Revival of A Musical - an honor unheard of for a company in its second season. In October & November 2012, MARVELL REP completed its "Burned & Banned" season with productions of Sholem Asch's God of Vengeance & Frank Wedekind's Spring's Awakening.

The Drama Desk-nominated MARVELL REP is Off-Broadway's only company & one of only a handful in the nation, devoted exclusively to producing new & enduring plays & musicals in rotating repertory. MARVELL REP is a 501(c)(3) non-profit theatre company & is funded, in part, by the New York State Council on the Arts, with the support of Governor Andrew Cuomo & the New York State Legislature.
