THE LADY WITH ALL THE ANSWERS - David Rambo's play about the late, legendary advice columnist Ann Landers - will close following the Sunday, December 6 matinee performance at 2 p.m. at the Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce St.), it has been announced by Cherry Lane Theatre's artistic director Angelina Fiordellisi and managing director James King.

Starring Judith Ivey as Landers and directed by BJ Jones, THE LADY WITH ALL THE ANSWERS will have played 8 previews and 51 performances at the time of closing. The play began previews on October 7, 2009 with an official opening on October 14.

THE LADY WITH ALL THE ANSWERS is set on the night in 1975 when the beloved columnist Ann Landers is preparing to write the most difficult column of her long and storied career: the one in which she will inform her 60 million readers that her own marriage has failed, after having advised them for decades that divorce is never the answer to a problem marriage. Throughout the evening, Landers recounts for the audience many of memorable letters she has received from her readers seeking advice on such delicate matters as marriage, divorce, life, death, sexuality and the proper way to hang a roll of toilet paper in the bathroom.

Funny and touching, THE LADY WITH ALL THE ANSWERS has been enthusiastically received by audiences and critics alike. When the play opened in October, The New York Daily News wrote, "Judith Ivey is letter-perfect as Ann Landers." The New York Times said Ivey's performance has "touching authenticity," and the Associated Press said LADY is "absolutely charming." As one fan of the play observes, "THE LADY WITH ALL THE ANSWERS tells you everything you didn't know about a woman who told you everything."

Judith Ivey won Tony Awards for her performances in the plays STEAMING and HURLYBURLY. She will repeat her acclaimed performance as Amanda Wingfield in THE GLASS MENAGERIE this spring in New York. Her many stage credits include having played "Mommy" in Cherry Lane's celebrated productions of Edward Albee's "AMERICAN DREAM," directed by the playwright last year, and the solo play WOMEN ON FIRE. Ms. Ivey's film credits include "Devil's Advocate," "Washington Square" and "Brighton Beach Memoirs," and she starred in four television series including "Designing Women."

Tickets to THE LADY WITH ALL THE ANSWERS are priced at $40 and $50. Remaining performances: December 3, 4 and 5 at 8 p.m. and closing day Sunday, December 6 at 2 p.m. For ticket reservations and performance information call Tele-charge at 212 239 6200. Or visit www.cherrylanetheatre.org
