InProximity Theatre Company is proud to present THE MAIDEN'S PRAYER by Nicky Silver (Beautiful Child, Pterodactyls, The Eros Trilogy, Raised in Captivity, The Food Chain, Fat Men in Skirts, Fit to be Tied, The Maiden's Prayer, Free Will & Wanton, My Marriage to Ernest Borgnine, The Altruists and The Agony & The Agony), directed by Terry Berliner; Starring Jonathan Todd Ross, Jolie Curtsinger, Laurie Schaefer, Josh Clayton, and Ari Rossen. Designers include James J. Fenton (scenic), Cory Pattack (lighting), Tescia Seufferlein (costumes) and Amy Altadonna (sound). The Production Stage Manager is Jenna Gottlieb.

Nicky Silver's THE MAIDEN'S PRAYER opens at the wedding of Taylor and Cynthia. Libby, Cynthia's hard-drinking sister is in love with Taylor herself and she can take it no longer. Libby then meets Taylor's best friend, Paul, who, since childhood, has harbored a secret love for the groom himself. As Libby and Paul are forced to deal with unrequited love, their lives change dramatically. Paul finds himself pursued by a young man, Andrew, who seems at first less interested in true love than in available real estate. THE MAIDEN'S PRAYER follows this quintet as they struggle to learn the difference between loving someone and needing them.

Mr. Silver is the recipient of The Oppenhiemer Award, the Kesselring Prize, a Helen Hayes Award, a Dramalogue Award, four Drama Desk nominations and four Outer Critic's Circle awards.

Ms. Berliner received the San Francisco Bay Area Theatre Critic's Circle Award in 2008 for her production of Bingo. Her Broadway credits include The Lion King, The Tale of the Allergist's Wife, The Sound of Music and The Red Shoes. Off Broadway: Time and Again, The Tale of the Allergist's Wife, Captains Courageous, Violet and Merrily We Roll Along. Other NYC credits include By Proxy and One Thing I Like To Say Is (both by Amy Fox), Room 407 (by Jeffrey James Keyes), Emma (by Joel Adlen at NYMF 2007), The Mercy Seat and Spine (by Bill C. Davis).

This is the second production for InProximity Theatre Company this year. The company's inaugural production of Craig Wright's ORANGE FLOWER WATER was a stunning success. NYTheatre.com called it "quite compelling" and "honest and raw". Theater Online said "A play like this stands or falls on its performances, and the cast comes through admirably" and called the production "a sharp debut". Off Off Online called ORANGE FLOWER WATER "an impressive calling card" and named it "Pick of the Week". Molly Marinik of TheatreIsEasy.com wrote "I respect that their first show is a ballsy one and I look forward to subsequent offerings."

THE MAIDEN'S PRAYER will run October 1 through October 18 at Theatre 54 at Shetler Studios, 244 West Broadway 12th Floor NYC 10019. Performances will be Thursdays thru Saturdays at 8PM and Sundays at 2PM. For additional information please visit www.InProximityTheatre.org.
