INTAR (Lou Moreno, Artistic Director/John McCormack, Executive Director) will present Intringulis, (n. a complex web, an ulterior motive), a new play written and performed by Carlo Albán, directed by David Anzuelo, beginning performances Off-Broadway Friday September 23rd, and continuing through October 16th only, at INTAR's theater space (500 West 52nd Street, at Tenth Avenue, on the 4th Floor). Opening Night is set for Monday September 26th at 8pm.

Intringulis will have scenic design by Raul Abrego, projection design by Erik Pearson, lighting design by Jorge Arroyo, sound design by Julian Mesri, and sound engineering by Cristian Amigo.

Though a professional actor for almost twenty years, most notably on "Sesame Street", Intríngulis is Mr. Albán's first play. It is a solo piece that aims to illuminate the dilemma of undocumented immigration from his personal experience, punctuated by Latin American folk/protest songs. In today's world, when we are more connected than at any other time in human history, what do national borders mean? How do we continually redefine a national identity in an endlessly evolving world? These are all questions at the heart of the immigration debate, and Intríngulis.

Growing up as an undocumented immigrant, Carlo led a double life during his formative years. There was the "average American teenager;" then there was the alien, the outsider, the Pariah, hiding in plain sight. "I knew there were thousands of others like me, but as we all became proficient at invisibility and deception, any kind of communion was impossible. What little discourse did exist in the mainstream media was often exploitive and counter productive. I set my sights on the day when I could tell the story as I experienced it. This is my story. My truth."

Carlo Albán's New York credits include References to Salvador Dalí Make Me Hot (Public Theater/NYSF), A Small Melodramatic Story (LAByrinth Theater Company/NYSF), Intríngulis (writer/performer - NYSF, Lehman College, Redhouse Arts Center & Pleasantville JCC).
