Fundamental Theater Project Produces Show To Fight Family Separation

Andres Quintero, Pía Paez, Maks Kubis, Tiphanie Doucet, Manuel Cortes Alcazar, Charlene Morris, Sean Scantlebury, Carmen Borla, Sam Underwood, Rakel Aroyo, Jenyvette Vega, Diana Pou, Hanna Elizabeth Young and Natalia Ivana Escobar join for a mega concert to benefit LUPE.

Saturday July 14th, New York-based performers of diverse backgrounds will raise their voices to benefit and important organization on the frontline in combatting the recent atrocities at the Mexico border.

"The shadow of events occurring at the border have put this country into the darkest times since I moved to the US. Families are being ripped apart, children torn from the arms of their mothers and fathers and put into cages. As a theatre company dedicated to supporting immigrant artists here in the US, Fundamental Theater Project cannot stand idly by. We will showcase the artistry of a dozen performers from Venezuela, Mexico, Argentina, Poland, France, Germany, Turkey and many more, all raising their voices in protest. Please join us." Sam Underwood, Fundamental Theater Project, Artistic Director.

Raucous Caucus is a platform for artists to bring communities together in unity behind civil rights causes and social institutions under threat. Last year, Raucous Caucus: Songs of the Resistance raised money for Planned Parenthood Action Fund NYC, while earlier year, Fundamental Theater Project and friends took the stage in support of the Time's Up Legal Defense Fund. Both events are proof that united, we can effect change doing what we do best.

Join Fundamental Theater Project for a Raucous Caucus benefit event for La Union del Pueblo Entero - LUPE (www.LUPEnet.org).

Founded by labor rights activist César Chávez & Dolores Huerta, LUPE builds stronger, healthier communities where colonia residents use the power of civic engagement for social change. From fighting deportations, to providing social services and English classes, to organizing for streetlights and drainage, LUPE responds to the needs of the community, and takes action that creates a chance for a better life. LUPE's strength derives from our 8,000+ members throughout the Rio Grande Valley.

"As an immigrant myself, but more so, as a human being, I am appalled by the current events. I came to this country to prosper, to thrive. I carry the belief that what makes this Nation stronger is its diversity and its compassion. Right now, the most vulnerable are being subjected to plain cruelty. I am proud of my roots and my story, but even prouder of being part of an artistic community that is willing to fight against extreme punishment. Join us and sing along, in Spanish, in English, in support. In hopes that we can believe again that human rights are inherent to all of us." Virginia Podesta, Fundamental Theater Project. Producing Director

Raucous Caucus is executive produced by Sam Underwood and Virginia Podesta, in association with Fundamental Theater Project. All proceeds go straight to LUPE.

The show takes place on July 14th at Symphony Space ( 2537 Broadway at 95th St. New York, NY). $15 Cover Charge. Doors open at 7:30pm, show starts at 8:00pm. Tickets can be purchased at https://www.symphonyspace.org/events/mass-rhetoric-raucous-caucus-separation-is-evil
