FOR PETER PAN ON HER 70th BIRTHDAY, THE TREASURER and More Announced for Playwrights Horizons' 2017-18 Season

Playwrights Horizons, under the leadership of Artistic Director Tim Sanford and Managing Director Leslie Marcus, is proud to announce the six productions of its 2017/2018 Season. The six new works will be presented at the theater company's home at 416 West 42nd Street. In season order, they will be:

FOR PETER PAN ON HER 70th BIRTHDAY - the New York premiere of a new play by two-time Pulitzer Prize finalist and Tony Award nominee Sarah Ruhl (Stage Kiss, Dead Man's Cell Phone at Playwrights; In the Next Room, or the vibrator play; The Clean House), directed by Obie Award winner Les Waters (The Christians, Doris to Darlene at Playwrights; Ms. Ruhl's In the Next Room, or the vibrator play; 10 Out of 12; Big Love; Artistic Director, Actors Theatre of Louisville), presented at Playwrights Horizons' Mainstage Theater. FOR PETER PAN ON HER 70th BIRTHDAY will be the first production of the season, beginning previews on Friday, August 18, 2017.

The complete cast of FOR PETER PAN ON HER 70th BIRTHDAY will feature Tony Award nominee and three-time Obie Award winner Kathleen Chalfant in the title role (Ms. Ruhl's Dead Man's Cell Phone at Playwrights, Wit, Angels in America, Ms. Ruhl's Dear Elizabeth), David Chandler (Doris to Darlene, Black Sea Follies at Playwrights; Lost in Yonkers; Death of a Salesman), Ron Crawford (The Grapes of Wrath, Outside Mulligan), two-time Obie Award winner Lisa Emery (Marjorie Prime, Marvin's Room at Playwrights; Casa Valentina; Iron; Curtains; Broadway's upcoming Six Degrees of Separation), Tony Award nominee Daniel Jenkins (Ms. Ruhl's Stage Kiss at Playwrights, Big, Big River, Broadway's upcoming Oslo) and Keith Reddin (Baby with the Bathwater at Playwrights as Actor; Highest Standard of Living, Life and Limb at Playwrights as Author; on Broadway in Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike).

THE TREASURER - the world premiere of a Playwrights Horizons commissioned new play by Max Posner (Judy), directed by three-time Lortel Award winner David Cromer (The Band's Visit, Our Town, Adding Machine), presented at Playwrights Horizons' Peter Jay Sharp Theater, beginning September 2017.

MANKIND - the world premiere of a Playwrights Horizons commissioned new play written and directed by two-time Obie Award winner Robert O'Hara (Bootycandy at Playwrights, Barbecue, In the Continuum), presented at Playwrights Horizons' Mainstage Theater, beginning December 2017.

THIS FLAT EARTH- the world premiere of a new play by Lindsey Ferrentino (Ugly Lies the Bone, Magic Man, next season's Amy and the Orphans), directed by Rebecca Taichman (Familiar at Playwrights, Indecent, the current How to Transcend a Happy Marriage), presented at Playwrights Horizons' Mainstage Theater, beginning March 2018.

DANCE NATION - the world premiere of a new play by Obie Award winner Clare Barron (You Got Older, I'll Never Love Again), directed by Obie Award winner Lee Sunday Evans (Caught, D Deb Debbie Deborah, A Beautiful Day in November...), presented at Playwrights Horizons' Peter Jay Sharp Theater, beginning April 2018.

LOG CABIN - the world premiere of a new play by JorDan Harrison (Marjorie Prime, Maple and Vine, From Doris to Darlene at Playwrights; "Orange Is the New Black"), directed by Tony Award and Obie Award winner Pam Mackinnon (Clybourne Park, The Qualms at Playwrights; Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, the upcoming Amélie), presented at Playwrights Horizons' Mainstage Theater, beginning June 2018.

Now in previews on the Playwrights Horizons Mainstage Theater is THE LIGHT YEARS, the world premiere of a new play written by Drama Desk Award winner Hannah Bos and Obie Award winner Paul Thureen, directed and developed by Obie Award winner Oliver Butler, made by The Debate Society (opening March 13). Following THE LIGHT YEARS, the 2016-2017 Season will continue with THE PROFANE, the world premiere of a new play by Zayd Dohrn, directed by Kip Fagan (previews begin March 17) and conclude with BELLA: AN AMERICAN TALL TALE, the co-world premiere of a new musical with book, music and lyrics by Obie Award winner Kirsten Childs, directed by two-time Obie Award winner Robert O'Hara and commissioned by Playwrights Horizons through the Musicals in Partnership Initiative with funds provided by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation (previews begin May 19).
