TACT/The Actors Company Theatre (Scott Alan Evans, Cynthia Harris and Jenn Thompson, Co-Artistic Directors), the critically-acclaimed company "dedicated to presenting neglected or rarely produced plays of literary merit," and named "Company of the Year" by Terry Teachout of The Wall Street Journal, is pleased to announce the cast and creative team for Beyond Therapy, the hilarious comedy by Christopher Durang, the modern master of the outrageous and absurd (and recipient of the 2013 "Best Play" Tony Award for Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike). The spring production of the company's 21st Season directed by TACT Co-Artistic Director Scott Alan Evans will begin performances at Theatre Row's Beckett Theatre (410 West 42nd Street - between 9th & 10th Avenues) on Tuesday, March 11, 2014. Opening night is set for Tuesday, March 25 at 7:30 p.m. Performances will continue through April 19, 2014.

In Beyond Therapy, life can be crazy. Therapy can help? In its first New York revival, Christopher Durang's razor sharp comedy about the search for a meaningful relationship in an insane world may provide the best therapy of all - guaranteed laughter. "Christopher Durang has the wit, the high, rebellious spirits, and the rage of the born satirist. He is also one of the funniest and most original playwrights at work. His 'Beyond Therapy' could be considered his 'Alice in Wonderland' - The New Yorker.

"As enormous admirers of Chris Durang, we're thrilled to be presenting the first NY revival of this seminal work," says Mr. Evans. "Beyond Therapy is a particular favorite of mine. Chris blends his sharp, incisive wit with a sweet and almost optimistic heart. We're thrilled Chris will be around and participating."

The cast will include TACT Company Members Mark Alhadeff (Venus in Fur, The Cocktail Party), Cynthia Darlow (Lovers, The Late Christopher Bean), Jeffrey C. Hawkins (Three Men on a Horse, Incident at Vichy), Liv Rooth (All in the Timing, Born Yesterday) and Guest Artists Karl Kenzler(Mary Poppins, Peter and the Starcatcher) and Michael Schantz (The Matchmaker).

The creative team is comprised of Tom Cariello (sets), Kim Krumm Sorenson (costumes), Mary Louise Geiger (lights), and Jill BC DuBoff(sound).

Beyond Therapy premiered Off-Broadway on New Year's Day 1981 at The Phoenix Theatre in a production directed by Jerry Zaks, where it ran for 30 performances. The cast included Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Collins, Jim Borrell, Kate McGregor-Stewart and Jack Gilpin. The Broadway production, directed by John Madden, opened on May 26, 1982 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre, where it ran for 21 performances. The cast included Dianne Wiest, John Lithgow, and Peter Michael Goetz with Ms. McGregor-Smith and Mr. Gilpin reprising their off-Broadway roles. David Hyde Pierce made his Broadway debut in the small role of a waiter. In 1987, Durang adapted the play for the screen (with director Robert Altman), starring Julie Hagerty, Jeff Goldblum, Glenda Jackson and Tom Conti. While Beyond Therapy remains one of Durang's more popular plays, this TACT production marks its first NY revival since its debut, over 30 years ago.
