Rattlestick Playwrights Theater Artistic Director David Van Asselt and Managing Director Brian Long have announced the cast and creative team for the American premiere of A Summer Day, a play written by Jon Fosse (International Ibsen Award in 2010), and directed and translated by Sarah Cameron Sunde. The second production of the company’s 18th season, A Summer Day will begin performances on Wednesday, October 10, 2012 at The Cherry Lane Theatre (38 Commerce St, New York, NY, 10014—off Seventh Avenue South). The official opening night is set for Thursday, October 25th at 7pm. The production is scheduled to run through November 25th.

A man goes out on the water every day. He’ll be back soon. But I feel so anxious. It’s probably nothing. Set in an idyllic, but isolated old house overlooking the water, and in two different times, A Summer Day captures the dilemma of love in the moment, and as a distant memory. Fosse's poetic, haunting, everyday language reminds us of the potential in every moment and the suspense of being alive.

The cast includes Carlo Alban, Karen Allen, McCaleb Burnett, Maren Bush, Pamela Shaw, and Samantha Soule.

The creative team features John McDermott (scenic design), Deb O (costume design), Nicole Pearce (lighting design), Leah Gelpe (sound design), and Andrew Diaz (properties). Katie Fergerson is production stage manager and Sam Horwith is assistant stage manager.

The performance schedule is: Tuesday-Friday at 8:00pm, Saturday at 2pm & 8pm, and Sunday at 3pm. Tickets are $75 for general admission, $25 for patrons under 30, and $20 for students (with Valid ID), and are available through www.rattlestick.org or by phoning OvationTix at 866.811.4111.
